  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Genesis Owners,

Two Issues -5.2K on car Ultimate Package 5.0

So the other day, my sunroof wouldn't close... I had to try to close it 10 times until it actually did so. It would close half way, slowly come to a stall, then reverse back to open position. Since closed, haven't opened it.

Due for my first oil change at dealership, will have them check it out.

Second Issue, any one having an issue with Sirius XM contstantly updating Favorites. My XM without a doubt will pause for a mintue (no sound) an then once unpaused will say updated Favorites. I seriously do not want my favorites updated so much if at all. Why does it do this so frequently. Gets to be pretty freaking annoying!

I love this car, but for the price, the little details are bothering me...

Anyway, any insight greatly appreciated!

Had a similar issue, took it to the dealer and they did a "software" update and haven't had an issue with the XM since then, it only took them a couple of hours so you should see if they can do it when you have the oil done.

Possibly had some debris on the tracks impeding the sunroof closing? Not sure if the sunroof has sensors.

@ Software update - If so, that is amazing. I will give them the car for a day or two. How do you know if the dearlership performed the software update?

@ Sunroof issue - Hopefully it was just dirt on the track, or debris. Maybe track needs a little lubricant?

Thanks All for the replies!

I would clean the sunroof tracks first and then apply lubricant.

That's odd, but I had an issue a few weeks ago with my front passenger window. It would not auto close or close at all when you held the button. It would go down 2-3 inches, stop, another 2-3 inches, stop, 2-3 inches and stop. Next time I started the car everything was fine again. Weird.

I have sort of the same issue with my rear driver side window. It first started back in January when it was really cold and I left the car at the airport parking. A couple days after I got back I was testing the windows (I regularly test everything to ensure it still works), and noticed the driver side rear window would NOT operate. I tried from both the driver control and the rear control. Nothing! Tried holding it down and up for about a minute each time hoping it would reset...nothing. Eventually took it to the dealer and was told that it's some sort of "fail safe" for when it gets ice or is frozen.

It worked well for a couple days after that, opening and closing at will. Then it started up again with the same problem. The only difference this time is that after keeping it pressed down or up for about a minute or two, it starts to work and continues to work all day until the car sits for a few hours. I've learned to live with it for now until my next service.

There are reports of sun roof seal coming becoming dislodged. That could have caused the problematic closing issue?

I am working on that issue right now. Have you heard how they fix this issue with sunroof seels? My tech has no clue. Regional representative coming out to look at car. Very disheartening...

I will ask a fellow member on this forum what he is finding out. And will he reply here. Want to keep his privacy unless he is ok with sharing it. He let me know the issue last week.

2012 Rspec it may well be the sunroof track and very costly fix it has to be completely
(headliner and sunroof) taken out . The part is on back order because of this exact problem. good luck. 3 week wait ..cost? under warranty

Re: Sunroof - Not Closing

I had the same issue last summer, the car was only a couple of months old. I took it in for its first oil change and asked that they check out the sun roof. They said there was an issue with it and needed to order parts, which took almost a month to get (they put a piece of tape over the switch and said not to use it, middle of june). I brought it back once they got the parts, it spent another full day there and when I came back was told they needed more parts, I'll have to bring it back, don't use it. Brought it back two weeks later (now we're into august) and it spent 5 days in the shop (meanwhile they rented me a Nissan versa from enterprise woohoo). When I finally got it back it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, now it's starting to act up again, have an appointment to bring it in next week. I have to say I really love the car but I'm not very impressed with their customer service or service in general, this experience is really putting a sour taste in my mouth.
