  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 with build date of jan/2015. CPO car with 9k miles when I got it a few weeks ago. Over all its great, but the forums are exposing some interesting issues with it. The panoroof rattle I'm sure its not just related to our cars, I'm sure bmw and benz or anything with a pano roof would have some sort of an issue.

It seems like other brands have some issues with pano roof rattling as well from web searching. I honestly wish they had dumped it for a more convenional sunroof - I have had many of those and never had one issue with them.

It's also really frustrating that it does not appear to occur in every vehicle - but with my luck I've now have had 2 with the issue. I've also noted it in every Genesis loaner I've had as well, to varying degrees. To me it is an excusable defect at this price point. Shame on Hyundai for not addressing it or moving away from the design.

I agree, but the pano roof contrast nicely with a white car, and we do have a 900 watt lexicon stereo to drown out the small rattle. lol

Maybe they will get serious with the next version of the G80 sport and offer up a carbon roof like some of the M cars.

That is what they are talking about. Open or closed the rattle is there. I have found that if you press on one of the forward corners you can reproduce the noise. My dealer knows about first hand. He has emailed the powers that be but has gotten no responce. If the shade is closed it dampens the noise quit abit.

Okay so what I thought was the rattle was not, the pano roof I think squeaks a bit but no rattles, what was rattling was my passenger side front door when the monkey who put the door panel back on after tint one of the plastic rivets that holds the panel to the door fell out of its holder and was bouncing around in the door panel.

I urge anyone who comes back from tint to check their door panels for rattles. Quick and easy fix.

My replacement 2016 Genesis will have been at the dealer for 8 weeks as of Monday. HMA is now having them replace the entire sunroof assembly after several tries at other fixes did not eliminate the rattles.

I honestly have lost confidence in the design/quality of the Genesis/G80 with the pano roof - why should a $50K car need the whole roof replaced (rattles were present very early in it's life)?

This seems like a major design defect or QC issue and how do I know this won't just come right back in a few months? This is all very disappointing in a $50K vehicle that I otherwise really like (but have lost my enthusiam for at this point)...

Talked to a Gennie dealer about my 2016 and the roof rattle and he looked at me like I was crazy and that they never heard of the rattle problem. Will be dumping this as soon as lease up and moving to Audi or Mercedes, real cars,,,,,,,
