Well, after talking to corporate, I am in the process of arbitration with Hyundai. My car was in at the dealer for 4 months, sunroof replaced, and still had the noise. The gentleman that I spoke with prior to filing a complaint with an attorney told me it was a known problem with no fix. He stated that the Hyundai resolution team would contact me in 48 hours. Well, a week later and no call I called them and he said although my car was returned to the dealer for repair within the first 12 months I was over 12,000 miles (12,483 to be exact) and they were not willing to offer a resolution. Once I told him I would contact an attorney e stated that our discussion was over and hung up.
I now have a deposition with their attorney in January and arbitration set for March. My issue is they don;t stand behind a known issue. I even told them if they buy my 2015 back or pay it off I would purchase a G90 without the panoramic roof to avoid the noise. They would rather go to arbitration.
Car is been in the shop over 5 months total of the past 10 months. The last trip the dealer said that their is no fix and even noted so on the repair order. The will no longer attempt to fix until Hyundai informs them of a fix.
This is my 2nd Genesis, my first was a 2013 and I probably would of already purchased the G80 sort or a G90 by now if Hyundai would of addressed my issue satisfactorily, in my opinion. Once you admit it is a known issue it should of been addressed.
I will not be purchasing another Hyundai or Genesis again due to this.
Yup - I believe that the Hyundai Genesis sedan has either a defective pano roof or just plain crap build quality - neither of which they appear have any clue how to actually fix. Who ever heard of having to replace entire sunroof assemblies on brand new vehicles? Sometimes multiple times! I went through 2 G2's (2015 & 2016) with persistent rattling pano roofs (and other quality issues that were resolved - but should not have existed in a supposed luxury vehicle to begin with) and would not ever consider a Hyundai vehicle again after those experiences. It looks like PA lemon law is pretty restrictive versus NJ so good luck as HMA can be challenging to deal with.
