  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can the SVM be activated automatically for front view? My depth perception is terrible and this works great on our RX350 when stopping at a traffic light. In the RX the front overhead view comes on every time the vehicle gets below 9mph and it is in drive.

Yeah you just have to hit the button on the center console for the camera when you start the car. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way you can default it to turn on, but once you hit the button the camera should come on once the car gets slow enough

Yeah, but once they speed up and the camera goes off, it will not come on again until the button is pressed or the car is put in reverse. I think they were asking for a way to have it always come on.

This is what the owners manual says

Surround View Monitor Auto On function will operate when the following conditions are satisfied:

With Drivers Assistance>Parking Safety>Surround View Monitor Always On’ selected from the settings menu, the front parking assist view screen is displayed when Parking Distance Warning warns the driver while driving in D (Drive).

That must be a new feature as my G80 does not offer it. Handy, but it would not come on until 39" to an object. I don't know if that is what the OP wants when stopping at a light of if he want more distance when stopping.

If it won’t come on until 39” before hitting something that kind of defeats having a front camera. The sensors sound you hit the brakes! I’m not going to waste time looking at the screen to see what triggered the alarm. Unfortunately this means it wouldn’t come on at all at an intersection. Tried to get an answer out of Genesis directly but they have problems understanding any5hing, even when I sent them their instructions! The Lexus/Toyota system has spoiled me over the years. Once their “Auto On” system is set it’s flawless. Comes on every time under 9mph and goes off automatically once under acceleration. My new ride is scheduled to arrive 1/18/22 so I have to decide whether performance or functionality is more important at this stage. Thanks

Yesterday I did hit the button to turn the camera on while driving. It did come on at a low speed with nothing in front of the car so in spite of the 39" of the manual, it does work to some degree. I had to hit the button every time though.

The 2022 has an auto on feature. Not sure that was around in 2018. I know it wasn’t on my 2017 G80. This is what I received from Genesis today. “Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care. A vehicle has to be in front of you for the front view camera to trigger on.” This came because I asked them specifically if it would work automatically when pulling up to an intersection.
