  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Suspension Issue - A new take

I called Discount Auto Shocks and they didn't have a clue whether the Ranchos would fit the Genesis or what adapter kits are needed. I'll call the manufacturer tomorrow.

Mark_888 if we don't know how you feel by now, WAIT WAIT WAIT we will never know. AND if you don't KNOW BY NOW that I WILL NOT WAIT you never will. That's the way it is you and me, so telling me to wait is a waste of time, I am not going to, never have been that way and am not going to do so now. I'll probably have it sold before the 2010 come out, till it is I'll not wait to try and seek a solution........ those are periods. :)

Genesis 380 Thanks for the good tutorial. !!!
You can do whatever you like. My advise is based on the likelihood of getting actual results, not just making a of noise. It is not like I am suggesting waiting a long time, just a month or two, when the new 2010 parts will be available.

As to whether you "will" wait, I think you will have to, regardless of what you would like to do. IMO anything you do now will be counterproductive to solving the problem, which many of us are very interested in getting a resolution for.

Hyundai doesn't have to do anything other than start stocking 2010 parts in dealer parts departments, which obviously they will do. Then you can purchase the revised parts and have an independent mechanic install them and live happily ever after.

I got underneath the Genesis this evening to take a closer look at the shocks. I climbed into the trunk, bounced up and down and the car barely moved, and I'm close to 200lbs. My 180lb son got in and we BOTH bounced up and down. Almost 400lbs and the suspension still barely moved! Hyundai may as well have welded the wheels to the subframe because for all intents and purposes, there is no functioning suspension at the rear at all. We did the same with our Honda Pilot and it bounced as expected. No wonder the Genesis rides the way it does and it doesn't take an expert to see why.
I found this which is interesting but of little help. http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2009/09/2009-hyundai-genesis-v6-sedan-suspension-walkaround.html
The 2010 Maximas are arriving and Nissan have a $1,000 incentive on them, so I'm going to try to do a deal on one this weekend.

DUH! Gee thanks I could have never figured that out. Assuming there is a 2010 part that is different than the 2009 part. Ever tried to find the part number for the 2009? Tell you what will make me live happily ever after is when I have traded and now because I don't have to see your argumentative repetitive posts anymore since I'll not be back. You win 888 chased another poster away with you know it all attitude. The rest of you will have to live with the highly connected only one who knows what he is doing poster. Me I am outa here, two great reason to trade better ride and less grief when you try and do something constructive. :welcome:

Gripperdon,

Well thank God and Greyhound you are gone! But wait, haven't you have resigned several times before? What does it take, a silver bullet? My guess is you will still be around even after you have sold your Gennie and moved on to a more sitisfactory ride.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts, it has been educational if not productive. We had such hopes for you too.

Regards, RBC

Man this thread is getting rather angry.. I think we all need a GREAT BIG :grouphug:

:D

*Sigh*......it seems a few of you love to repeat yourselves ad nauseum. It's a shame very little of the dialogue is meaningful and/or new info.

And while it is extremely unfortunate that anyone would experience serious issues on a new car, I feel that roughly 6-12 unsatisfied owners on this site have drown out the rest of us owners who actually, *gasp*, love their Genesis. At some point you really do just need to move on. Especially if it is preoccupying nearly every waking moment of your life. Is the headache worth saving money or is it better to take a bath on the Genesis and just get a vehicle you are happy with? I had naggling little issues w/ my GS430 so I got rid of it. I didn't go to www.clublexus.com and b*tch and moan just to cause a stir and make myself feel better.

I kind of figured.....the Azera has had suspension complaints for years and to the best of my knowledge there still aren't any aftermarket options. I guess the manufacturers don't want to waste the money developing/testing a product for a vehicle that sells is such limited quantities.

THis is getting a little out of hand. Please keep personal attacks and opinions of others to yourselves. The suspension issue is a hot button for a lot of people some who like it others that don't. Whether you like, dislike or are neutral to this topic...stay on topic. Can't we all just get along... :)

I second that...

Why would you keep reading a thread about suspension problems and then complain because people are talking about the suspension? I'd say 90% of the threads on here have nothing to do with the suspension - maybe you could stick to them

For the same reason you sold your Genny for a Milan yet you keep coming back here to stir things up. Didn't you see the request from crupp to knock off the silliness?

Dumped the Genesis yesterday, so for me it is Exodus.
My Hyundai experiment failed. Shame on Hyundai for not standing behind their product.
Good luck everyone.

The person who started this thread has never even owned a Genesis (he recently bought a Volvo instead), and yet has posted (and stirred things up) many times well after he decided against purchasing the Genesis.

There is a big difference between people posting their concerns about the Genesis suspension, and those who belittle people who post about these issues. Anyone who bought a Genesis and sold it has taken a beating on that transaction, so they deserve to post about this issue a lot more than someone who has never purchased one.

IMO there is no excuse for criticizing someone for expressing a legitimate concern about the Genesis. If you don't want to hear about the suspension issue, don't open a thread with suspension in the title. It is very simple.

I get very tired of reading people criticizing the stock rims, lighting, leather, bass response, etc. But everyone is entitled to their opinion about the car, regardless of whether we agree or disagree.

Glad to hear your unhappiness has come to an end. What did you end up getting?

I should know tomorrow if a deal I'm trying to put together on a new Lexus LS460 goes through.

what did you get?

All due respect, you completely missed the point.
