  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

I installed Blizzaks on my Genesis earlier this year. The temperatures here in Indiana are starting to jump back up. (This weekend it will be a high of 50.) I am going on a 9 hour round trip this weekend, and am afraid I am going to cause premature wear on the tires. I have read some places that you should change your tires when the temperature is 40-50.....

Just 2-3 weeks ago, we had major snow - so I am afraid to make the change yet.

What are your thoughts?

MFG states that temps above 40 will result in faster tread wear....

How much of an effort is it gonna take to swap the tires. Do you have the Blizzaks on the OEM rims meaning trip to tire shop, or are they on other rims, so you can just bolt on/off? Are they in your garage, or storage, etc?

I have the original set of Dunlops... But one was much more worn than the others...so not sure I really want to put these things back on. The dilemma is, I just bought these Blizzaks in December...and I am just bellyaching about buying new tires in a little over 2 months.

I just paid roughly $1000 for the Blizzaks in December, and now gotta come up with $820 or so to get Contintenals installed. I think I have decided to order the Contentials today and get them installed on Friday.

$1000 for Blizzaks???!?! I paid $1200 for tires AND rims from the TireRack...including tire pressure sensors.

In Detroit we might still see the occasional snow or freezing rain in late March, early April. I put the winter tires on halfway through December and take them off in early April. If it snows after that I declare a personal snow day and wait out the storm. I expect these Michelin X-Ice2's to go 3 or 4 seasons.

If I was doing it now I'd go with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS for Dunlop replacements....but two or three seasons from now, when it comes time to change the Dunlops for us, there might be something better.

I also had an alignment done. It still pulls left on the left side, and right on the right side of the road - like I have heard from others. I just wish there was a stronger sense of center...
