  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla CyberTruck

Haha. I'm not sure if we, as his parents, can even get any better pricing on a Rivian.
On a related topic, I never even heard of "Circle A pricing" until I joined this forum. Had to Google it. Is this term/deal common for those involved in the auto industry? Or is it applied only to leases? (I guess I need to Google it done more.) Wondering why this is a new term for me.

I don't think it's a common term. I just thought people on the forum would understand what I meant/get a kick out of it. Whoops! Sorry to confuse ya!

It is unique to Hyundai/Genesis...not sure if it applies to Kia.

It is called Hyundai Circle Pricing. The "A" is the Plan. Depending if you are an employee, a dealership or your company has a discount, etc...it's designated by a letter.

So...Circle A is for companies that have an agreement with Hyundai. Circle Z is for an employee of a Hyundai/Genesis dealership. Circle V is reserved for current Ford owners affected by the diesel emissions recall. Not sure of the others...forgot.

I am looking at an electric or hybrid option for my next commuter vehicle. I want a 2022 Corvette Convertible as my last sports car.. likely be putting up the hot rod to auction to get it, but won't drive it daily.

Me too for the commuter vehicle. I very briefly thought about the Audi etron GT when it comes out as the concept version looks amazing (then it could serve as my commuter and sports car all rolled into one neat little package), but I know it's going to be well outside my price range at 6 figures.

agree its fast feels like a roller coaster but its electric no fun in that , gas engines is like a work of art.

Yeah, that too. Engine sound and exhaust note add so much to the experience of driving a car (do wish the G70 was a bit better on the exhaust note). I thought the handling on the Tesla was suprisingly good, though I only drove the Performance version so not sure about the other trim levels.

Wait until VW is fully in the game. I bet they’ll have amazing products that will put Tesla under (hopefully). Affordable as well.

I think it's actually better if Tesla stays around. They push the envelope in a way that other car manufacturers don't. Puts pressure on everyone else to get their shit together. In the end, you get something like the Taycan rather than a Prius/Bolt

I'm curious about the Tesla haters. I don't have a strong feeling about him one way or the other. He certainly is an odd guy, and likely narcissistic like Steve Jobs and others, but as an engineer I respect what he and his engineers have accomplished. The Tesla S was an amazing achievement, as well as a great car, and they have revolutionized some of the aspects of space travel. Have you seen the videos of giant boosters landing upright (most of the time 😉) on a platform in a rolling sea? Pretty freaking incredible.
Not trying to start an argument, just honestly curious why he seems to generate such strong dislike.

Hyundai's supposed to be coming out with a performance coupe in 2020, using Rivian sourced batteries as it will be a hybrid.

I'll be happier to buy electric when there are more options available. My father has a model s, and it's nice, but not for me.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate Tesla for what they are. All other car makers are playing catch-up because Tesla is pretty dang advanced in terms of battery and electric motor tech. Generally speaking, I like their cars. BUT - I'm not gonna play fanboy. I'm calling out their truck for what it is: that thing is RIDICULOUSLY stupid. Not only does it look super dumb, but aerodynamics are a thing - I wouldn't dare drive that monstrosity in the freeway, especially if it's windy. Lol.

Edit: will also be interesting to see how it fares in crash tests. All that kinetic energy will transfer right into the cabin because of their 'exoskeleton'.

Local news station had live coverage of the launch a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing to see the separation and then the landing. No matter what you think of Mush, the engineering is fantastic.

As for the Tesla, it is not for me. You have to separate the car from the drivers though. The car has some good engineering, but has some quality issues, that part is fixable. Style, the S is OK but the others I don't care for, just my personal taste.

No doubt the electrics are getting better but still have a way to go to be justifiable. They still take a lot of resources. I know battery recycling is getting better but there are still kids working in lithium mines.

I'd consider an EV for a second car but not for an only car for my needs. A small EV for commuting in the city could be a nice fit.. I have no idea how good the climate control is either. The Genesis kind of spoiled me both winter and summer. I've been comfy from -10 to +105F

Good old Top Gear....
I think the Model 3 looks horrible in person, drove by one the other day and it is like a quirky horrible bubble compared to the G70.
agree, the interior is trash looks so plain materials are low grade even in there top line leather.

In spite of (or maybe it was planned) Elon and Tesla are getting tons of attention for this pickup preview. It's on TV, radio, print, forums etc. They couldn't afford to buy this kind of press. It's sucked the air out of the L.A. show. Probably mission accomplished for them.

Yeah it looks like a mess. Hard to imagine that it won't be toned down for any possible launch.

Agree that it's better for the industry to have Tesla around. It's forcing car manufacturers (especially the ones I like) to start developing good EVs. I think the Taycan and the soon-to-be Audi e-Tron GT are good examples of that. Just hope it also leads to cars that are in my price range, and better looking ones than Tesla. Tesla's designers must be an interesting bunch. That truck is just plain weird, and even though I was considering buying a Model 3, I was never fully sold on the looks. It did grow on me a little though - I went from thinking it was absolutely hideous to "ok, it's not the ugliest car in the world". Still do not like that blah interior however.
