I am still waiting a few more weeks for the 2016, and I have had two short test drives in variously configured Geneses. Today I drove to the next town over to the nice Equus-selling dealership and had a longer test drive in the 3.8L Black exterior Beige interior Signature and Tech Package Genesis. I am set on this configuration minus the Tech Package.
It was late afternoon and a bit rainy. Something about driving essentially the car I really want made me so excited to own one. Everything about it was beautiful: The HID headlights and LED trim looked gorgeous, even without the LED fog lights. The black paint with raindrops on it looked glossy and sleek. The interior was so elegant, soft, and absurdly spacious. Sitting in the back seat with the side and rear sunshades up and the panoramic roof displayed, taking in the beautiful car with so much interior space, was amazing. I felt like I was sitting in the back of a Rolls Royce, but modern. I opened up the hood, and that engine is huge!
Driving it was just so much fun. I put it on Sport Mode and didn't think twice. I can't imagine having the V8. It was so fast with the V6, and when I floored it at the entrance to the highway, I felt like I was going into warp speed. It was just so smooth and fast. I slammed on the brakes at a stoplight later, on a wet road, and this huge, heavy car stopped so quickly and smoothly, I couldn't believe it. Even when a truck pulled from being stopped on the shoulder into my lane and I had to make an emergency lane change on the highway, everything was so responsive and smooth. The ride at 80 mph was incredibly quiet. When I turned it on, the sound system blew me away with its solid, punchy bass and crisp sound. I think my only gripe is that the ultra leather seats should be part of the luxury feature Signature Package instead of the safety feature Tech Package. The leather just felt so nice, but I have no use for the Tech package. The chimes and haptic feedback were annoying, and I know I would just turn that all off.
All in all, this drive really sold me on the options I had chosen. More importantly, it made me so incredibly excited to get my new car. I just have to be patient for the next few weeks while they make their way from the Northeast to North Carolina. Congratulations to all of you who own such a fine car!
