  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Test drove one tonight - impressions and a question

Stop lying. Never said urs was overall worse than mine - just different - worse in one way better in another, but still not what I'd call good. You never understood the issue with mine anyway and the fact it was inconsistent. The inconsistency was one of the things that drove me to distraction and the search for an answer- even I had days when it rode OK on the exact same roads that would send me bobbing around the next day. I reported that constantly in my posts. Thats one reason I wanted to compare to a V8. It's similar to the fact that the demo I drove was OK in all conditions- mine was not. Mine seemed fine when I went to pick it up and drove it around town a bit just to check it out. Once I took it to work the next day on highways and varied roads it was clear there was a problem. I'd have a good day with it (mostly seemed to be when raining and/or warmer) and then begin to think the bad ride was just a freak occurance then the next day it would be back to its old tricks again. The final straw came vibrating down 355 one day when my friend in the backseat said pull over before I puke.

And ur standards are very low for your ride and your opinion was preformed anyway. You are the only delusional one here - well you and Syantsi

Make it 77! And the 77th is one who actually drove Doug's car over one of his rough patches (that made him nauseated if I recall correctly) while he drove my V8. My conclusion from that swap of rides? Doug is delusional, his car was fine. His conclusion? I'm nuts because my car rode worse than his.

I think you've said it numerous times in numerous threads: drive it and see for your self. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Oh, I think the text book on "delusional" pretty well describes one of us for sure:

The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force.

That idea appears to exert an undue influence on his or her life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent.

Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it.

The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief.

An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.

The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of his or her psyche.

Individuals who know the patient will observe that his or her belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien.

In my professional opinion, this is an excellent clinical description of patient doug725.

S.Freud.

This diagnosis is spot on. I have been reading several of his posts and this is what I have concluded several months ago.

This is the part where Doug725 becomes so angry he just hurls insults.

Actually, it appears this is the point where people pile on with insults. It is typical, when people are losing a logical argument, for them to attack the individual instead of the subject.

This is getting ugly. In lieu of hurting and insulting each other, one should get out of the kitchen if one can't take the heat. There is no thing such as a perfect car. Simply put, if one's happy with the car then the car will be kept. Otherwise it will be sold, returned, or salvaged.

"You mean the people that don't own the sedan are not welcome here in the forums??? That can't be right...

Well for all you sedan owners I would like to invite you all into the coupe forums and we will welcome any and all!!

Especially if you don't own one yet and you are doing research!
:welcome:"

Rockynight I wouldn't be caught dead in the "coupe forum". There is nothing to learn from people who only own "half a Genesis sedan".

dough725 do I understand you traded your Genesis sedan in for a Mercury? And what car company do you work for?

I can only speak for myself, but I am extremely well pleased with the suspension. Mind you, it is firm like a BMW not soft like a Lexus or Cadillac. So you will have to make up your own mind if you like it.
What model year Genesis do you have? If you have a 2009, what was manufacture date (in the drivers side door jam)?

I test drove the V6 twice and had no idea of any suspension issues until I started the forum review. I thought it drove fine. I am planning on giving the V8 a try as I am already spoiled with the power of my G35 Coupe and think the V8 with Tech is a super value for what you are getting. My only concern is that the Tau V8 has not been around long enough to prove it's overall reliability compared to the V6. By the way, I have found the members of this forum to be super helpful as well as extremely friendly. :):)
What model year did you test drive? Hyundai made changes to the 2010 suspension and by most all accounts is improved. It is still a firm ride (by design), but much better control on bad roads.

All models I drove were 2010. After a few test drives, I did not find the V8 suspension satisfactory even going over slight irregularities on the highway. I've decided to wait for 2011 to see if things improve in this dept. I still like all other aspects of the car.

You previously said that you "test drove the V6 twice and had no idea of any suspension issues until I started the forum review." The reason for that is because the suspension was changed by Hyundai in 2010 and if you test drove a 2010 you would not have noticed a problem with the 2009 that everyone was discussing. I don't know how many more times I have to repeat this (that the Hyundai changed the 2010 suspension and it is not a problem anymore)?

With regard to the firmness of the V8 you drove, both the 2009 and 2010 are firm and you going to feel bumps in the road, but with the 2010 there is more suspension control (tighter shocks) that keep the car from bobbing up and down when encountering repeated problems in the road.

If you want soft and cushy, look elsewhere, as the Genesis is not designed for you. They only thing I think of that "might" change that is an adjustable air suspension like the KDM version as an option on a future Genesis sedan. But I would that you are going to have a lot to get that option "if" it ever becomes available in a North American version. In other words, if an adjustable air suspension does become available, it would probably be part of Tech Package.

Given the amount of power available in the V6, and if you think the 2010 V6 rides well, not sure why you don't just go with that. The V6 is always going to be more nimble and handle better than the V8 because the V6 has 200 lbs less weight on the front end and very close to the ideal 50/50 weight distribution..
