  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The 2019 Genesis G70 Is Getting a Six-Speed Manual

This is confirmed in Canada per the Genesis brochure - comes with the Brembos, LSD and staggered 225 / 255 summer tires. Available in RWD only.

I thought that a bit odd from a performance POV, but it may be a European configuration. They still hold on to stick as preference in spite of reality these days.

Driving stick is fun once in a whole, but the automatic today can beat it for shifting speed and economy. Not like the days of a Powerglide Chevy.

I'm glad they are gearing it towards the enthusiasts rather than the general public. Good on them

One of the possible reasons the manual only assigned to the smaller engine is fuel economy

But the EPA numbers I saw favored the automatic
Stick combined 22 with 18/28 city/highway
Auto combined 25 with 22/30 city/highway

The difference is that some drivers just like the fun of a stick. There is no practical advantage but repairs may be less down the road unless you burn up clutches a lot.

Stick is cheaper to build. They are practicing price nitche marketing.

A 3.3T Sport RWD manual is not happening in the foreseeable future, unfortunately. Take what you can get -- at least we get a manual! #SaveTheManuals

What I meant, if you the manual stick used on the turbo V6 the fuel economy will be below at or below EPA's allowed mileage and therefore it was only used for the smaller engine.

I feel much more engaged in the process of driving with a manual transmission but my wife feels differently. If a car is going to be used by both of us, automatic is pretty much de regeur these days.

Being engaged in NC may be OK. Being engaged on a freeway with bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour in a major city is a gigantic pain in the a$$.

Up until the last 10 years or so, I think most manual transmissions were more fuel efficient than automatics. But that has changed. For one thing, you probably won't find a 8 speed manual on a car.

Yeah, I totally get that. I used to live in the Boston area. Stick wasn't much fun in the city or in highly-congested highway traffic. That creep/stop/creep/stop driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic is murder on a clutch, too.

If I were to get a G70, it would be as another fun car. And for me, fun driving involves three pedals. Utilitarian driving is done in our G80 (5.0 and still kinda fun) and our SUV (Jag F-Pace, as fun as an SUV can be).

But I hope to hold out for the coupe. Perhaps it will be offered with a stick. I sure miss my 6-speed Gen Coupe 3.8 Ultimate, and it will be replaced eventually with something.

Ohhhh man, I just got excited about this car again! These days, I'll take a manual in 4,6,8 or any cylinder engine that's available. Enthusiasts like myself don't care about better 0-60 times versus an automatic, its the feel and engagement that we enjoy as part of driving. No one can shift faster than a computer, but that's not the point. I like rowing my own gears. Some people say it's tiring and annoying in traffic, but that's part of it. Its like saying "why bother exercising or playing sports if you're just going to get tired and sweat?"

Anyhoo, let's hope the pricing stays sane and it can be had for decent lease. Fingers crossed.

You need the Bentley Bentayga SUV with 542 HP (0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds):

I challenge you to drive a Stelvio Quad. Get back with me after you sign papers at the dealer lol
