  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At the end of November 2012 I bought my 2009 Genesis 3.8 with 22k miles. It was time to move on after owning a 1999 nissan maxima for 14 years. Loved that car but with 182,000 miles, it was time.
With the maxima whenever I would get to the work parking lot, I would find the closest spot and it didn't matter how 'far away' the car in the next spot was to me. A door ding was common. But now with the Genesis, I park in the same spot every day. It's a corner spot with no chance for anyone to ding my doors. The walk is longer and that is fine with me (I could use the extra exercise anyway.)
Getting to my point of this post, every day I walk away from my car I look back and smile :D. Most cars are blah but the Genny is a pretty car and I'm proud to own her. I even point her out to other people even though I know they could care less.
Am I alone here feeling/acting this way? I'm sure there are several of you out there that do the same thing.

After 16 months, I still do the same thing.
:)

Same here. My co-workers were all wondering whose car it was in the parking lot when I was new here. They were shocked when I said it was mine. They all love it lol.

Every time.

I actually ran head first into my apartment door as I was looking back at my car, and this was 6 months after I bought it...

same here after 82k miles. It's still the one everyone wants to go to lunch in. Or sometimes my wife,s co worker's R Spec. But mine rides better.

Absolutely! She is a great looker and does everything I ask of her effortlessly. It brings a smile to my face every day! Reminds me of that Cadillac commercial a handful of years ago that asked: When you turn your car on does it return the favor? I can say unequivocally Yes...yes she does. :-)

After 3 months not only do i look back at it, i have washed the RSpec more in 3 months than i washed my pickup in the 17 years i've owned it...:)

It is great to know I'm not alone. Well, quitting time. Now time for fun!!

Add me to the list. Pulled up to restaurant the other evening that had valet parking and was standing in front of the place waiting for another couple. Turned away for few seconds and then turned back towards the parking area and saw what I thought was wow what a beautiful automobile. Yep....was the Genesis.

Yep. My firs Genesis (2010 3.8) was in the shop having the windows tinted just 2 days after I bought it. I sat in the waiting room waiting and when a tech brought my car up I didn't immediately recognize the car as mine but I do remember thinking "wow now that's a sharp looking car...wait hey that's my car!"

Funny, I look at my R Spec constantly. This week I swear I passed a Bentley GT coupe on a slow 20mph road. The guy driving saw me and chicken necked so much he almost wrecked. I think he thought I had a baby Bentley. Ha ha.

I'm that way with every "car" I own/drive.

Currently its my 2011 Coupe. I like everything about it. Its just fun to drive, short or long distance. When we hit the road my wife prefers it over anything else we own.

Before the coupe it was my 86 IROC. I don't drive it as much as I used to (put antique tags/license on it and probably shouldn't have, yet) but when I do it still puts a smile on my face.

I need to get my 81 Z28 back on the road. It doesn't handle like the Coupe or the IROC but with that 350 and 4 speed it sure was fun to drive.

I actually ran head first into my apartment door as I was looking back at my car, and this was 6 months after I bought it...

And here I thought I was the only one who did that

Still in love with her and in June it will be 3 years since the day we first met...lol

<3 my Genny !!

She's in for service right now and they have me in a 2013 3.8 fully loaded...I must say I really do like the new blue link and the way things are displayed on it a lot better.

Question is if you were going to get a 2013 would you buy one in Black or the Pearl White?? ....both are sexy looking.

Pearl white. I am also forwarding that post to your wife. Have fun sleeping on the couch with Genny!!! lmao ;)

lol....not married but the GF wouldn't like it any better I'm sure

I think I'm leaning towards the Pearl White also, mine is blue and they don't make it in that color anymore...now it's only in the dark blue. If the R-Spec came in the White Pearl that would be really sweet. For me it's a matter of not wanting the first production year of a new body style that's making me lean towards a 2013. I had my fair share of bugs / problems with my 2010 that seem to be fairly well gone in the 2012-13's. The blue-link is very intuitive in comparison to the tech package in mine and I like the layout of the DIS. One feature I did not was missing from the navigation still is the ability to tell it no u-turns...my cheesy $99 Garmin has that.
