  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The End of Market Adjustment

You may want to check out the Discover Genesis Tour going on right now as part of the Taste of Dallas event. As a thank you for test driving a Genesis, you get a coupon for $500. That's $500 off whatever price you can get from a dealer. :)

On the coupon deal, has anyone noticed if it is geograhically restricted, My sales guy is saying it should have a restriction that it is only valid within xx miles of the event site, thus limiting you to the dealers in the event's district.

I have it in my hand and have read everything on it. The only limitation is that it expires 12/31/08.

It even states, "Make your best deal with your Hyundai dealer." It also states that it CAN be combined with lease of other special coupons.

I thought about going down to that deal. Did they have any V8's?

There isn't any geographical restriction.

I think it's becoming more common for auto maker to give $500 coupons at an event. I have one from Volvo for looking at their cars at this year's local car show. Still haven't used it.

Are they giving coupons at the special invitation events only or all of the locations where the Discover Genesis Tour will be held?

Thanks GenFan! So it is not personalized? I can get a friend or family member to a tour city to take a drive, snag a coupon, and send it to me?

The one in DFW was open to the public (not by invitation). I don't know whether they're giving out coupons at other tour locations. I'd be surprised if they don't. It's great if anyone from other locations can confirm this.

The one I have is not personalized. It's just a coupon that you fill out with your name and information at the time of purchase. The lady that gave it to me just reached into a bank deposit bag and gave it to me. It is numbered but she did not record any information from it before giving it to me.

Great site! I've been reading reading updates for several weeks. I'm sure a Genesis is in my future...my Infiniti M35 lease expires in November. Does anyone have a list of where I might snag one of these coupons. $500 would be a nice addition to to my negotiating a final price.

Thanks and keep up the great info exchange.

Hi Charles! Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up.. Where are you located? I'll check to see if there's any type of "Discover Genesis Tour" in your area... That's where you pick up these $500 coupons...

:)Greetings,

I'm in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks!

I just made an on-line reservation for the July 27 Tour in Washington, D.C. (was going to be in the area anyway). Hope they still have the coupon available.

Thanks for your help!

Market Adjustment still alive and well in FL. Crown Hyundai St. Pete has a Premium Plus on the floor with a $899 surcharge. The car also had a hand painted Pin Stripe and door edge guards for an additional $499. :(

I guess we just need to give this time. These dealerships probably have one of two things going on.

1. In their mind, the Genesis is going to be at tremendous hit.
2. Their receiving many calls about the Genesis from people in their area - in most cases, probably the same person calling three or four times asking if the Genesis is in. This could really give them the perception that a lot of people are waiting for the car to become available...

I'm in Orange County, CA. The first two dealers I went to 1) Irvine had a $5000.00 "market availability surcharge" on top of $1999.00 custom wheels. 2) Santa Ana had $2500 markup on the premium plus model, but $5000.00 on the technology package model (BTW the tech package still has the cup holders and also has sunglass holder that the non-tech package model does not, as the hands free speaker on the tech package is to the left of the driver side sun-visor).

I then found the Anaheim dealer who is selling at MSRP.

I guess you have to shop around to find the best deal. More so with the Hyundai Genesis than with other vehicles.. Still, it's "new" and there's a lot of hype around it - so this is to be expected..

As for the sunglass holder and other stuff with the technology package - I can think of a few people who might be interested in this. I just hope they visit this discussion. I think there's another discussion going on about the packages that you might want to add this information to...

I have been trying to figure out how the center console is different in the Tech Package vs. the non-Tech Package...(yes jwaters943, it still bugs me that I can't figure it out!)

The silver/gray gear shifter base plate has to be longer on the Technology Package to accommodate the control wheel/knob/joystick thing. Where is the extra room accounted for? Is the armrest smaller? Are the cup holders smaller? Is the ash tray smaller? I can't figure it out and it is bugging the hell out of me! There are no dealers around me that have the tech package in stock. I would certainly go there and sit in them to figure it out!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
GenFan: even if you can't find a dealer with a Tech Pkg, you can probably find one with the recently-released product brochures, and the brochure includes a photo of both a Tech and non-Tech interior.

As best I can tell from the photos, the gear shift base plate is, in fact, a bit larger on the Tech Pkg to accommodate the DIS knob. Nothing in front of the base plate (the dash side) appears to be different, but it looks like the little covered compartment between the base plate and arm rest may be a bit smaller in the Tech version, and it appears that the arm rest is further away from the shifter, too.

Ultimately, the best way to compare the two will be to find a dealer with both in stock. The odds of that should improve rapidly as August approaches (I say this based on having talked with two Hyundai product specialists at the Genesis Tour in MN yesterday...they said that cargo ships will be disgorging V6s at west coast ports at a steady clip over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, they don't have any specifics on V8 timing yet, but estimate volume shipments to be 2 - 3 months out).
