If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Genesis Bluetooth Audio ECHO Issue Discussion

I spoke to Genesis customer service twice in February. I was told to expect an update by the end of February or beginning of March . . . .

This is not only a convenience issue, but also a legal/safety issue. In my state, it is illegal to use your cell phone while driving and I never did so even before. Accordingly, if I am on the highway, it is currently impossible to use the phone because by keeping the volume below 20, I cannot hear what is being said due to road noise. Part of the reason I bought a GV80 was its purported connectivity, so I am pretty frustrated and disappointed.

The dealership wants to replace the "head unit," but based on what is on the board here, it does not appear that will serve any purpose. Has anyone tried that?
Take it easy!!!!

Just don’t use CarPlay and use the Bluetooth. It works fine with zero issues as long as you don’t use CarPlay.
If you need to charge your phone just plug it into the other usb port.

Changing the head unit won’t help.
Rolling back to the previous software would be the only bandaid but not possible for them.

This thread may help.

For those who use a phone navigation system like waze having carplay is essential. So not plugging it in is not an option.

Our 2022 GV70 did this until I had the latest software update at the dealer while it was in getting the ac evap replaced. New updated map and the Bluetooth and stereo volume is much more loud & clear. Before u had to turn the volume on blast to barely hear anything.. much much better now though.

I’ve tried using both usb ports and both resulted I. Mmm

Ugh agreed. I’m a realtor and rely on Waze, and spend hours in the car on the phone so I’m constantly battling a low phone battery since I can’t charge simultaneously. I’ve tried both usb ports and both result in the echo.

Are there any updates on a fix?

If you tried both ports in the pocket you click try the rear ports from the back of the console but I already know your echo isn’t due to Genesis CarPlay as CarPlay is only on the left port.

The audio path that goes through that single port is the only port that can keep both microphones ons at same time that causes the echo.

I’ve owned my car since December 2024 which means 2/3rd of the time I’ve had it I’ve not been able to make phone calls like I would expect in a $70k car. I’m so annoyed by this!! :).
Thank you for continuing to post here. I’m following along hoping for an answer.
So disappointed in Genesis.
Thanks again fellow owners!

Same! I use Car play for everything. Map podcasts calls etc. I had a $30k Jeep before buying this car and Car Play worked perfectly!!! Does annyone know if Genesis ever look here to give us answers?

Do
Tip: the no echo is due to the call going out over Verizon LTE from the cars modem and not your phones modem.

It’s a direct line.

The CarPlay echo is from both mics being turned on when it should shut down one of them
you know how to fix it? Is it a car thing? Or something I can do. Thanks so much!!!!

I just talked to someone at genesis. They are aware of the problem & said there may or may not be a solution during the next month or so. He said at one point that it is a problem with Apple & that I could call Apple if I wanted to. This is craxy to me! Anyone else?

From what I’ve heard, and been told by Genesis Customer Care, they are aware of the problem, are working on a fix, and that the fix should be available in the next software update, which they say will happen in June.

I have a GV70 2024. When I use Apple CarPlay and make a phone call the person I'm calling hears a bad Echo. I have talked to senior Apple support people and read several Reddit threads. Apparently, there is no good solution for this problem at this time. Supposedly Genesis is aware of it and looking into a fix. There are a lot of people complaining about this. I have tried every solution that Apple and the online forums have suggested. The only one that actually works is to lower the on-call volume to less than 20. Using an aftermarket wireless device doesn't work. Using Bluetooth works but then you aren't getting CarPlay. The problem is apparently the mic picking up their voice and echoing it back to them. You can't hear it only the calls receiver. Some other Car manufacturers have solved it with a software update per Reddit. That's why lowering the volume works. I am hoping that Genesis monitors this Forum and that others will join in to complain about it. Every other Genesis owner I've spoken to has the exact same issue (all have newer models). I just installed the latest firmware update so that didn't help.

They released an over the air software update tonight. Once you update your system, the issue should be fixed.

I hope for all that is good and holy, this solves the echo problem.
I’m on my second Genesis in 2 1/2 years and after spending $70k on a GV80 and having to jerry-rig something so basic as using CarPlay without an echo is beyond frustrating and quite honestly, embarrassing, when I have to explain my brand new car has a system issue that can’t get rid of the echo when I have to use Waze and talk on the phone at the same.
When I got to the office this morning, it updated and now hopefully, this evening on the drive home, all will be right with the universe. 🤞🤞🤞

it's only for the folks in US, does anyone know about the Canadian side? Suprisingly, the US software update website doesn't list all the software updates available. I was thinking of flashing mine with the US s/w update haha

2023 gv80 prestige.
While on a call I have had multiple people say they can hear themselves talking (echo)

Good coverage area and it’s multiple people.

Anyone have this issue? If so is there a fix?

Thanks

I have the exact same problem and Bluetooth is unusable because of the echo.. I have an iPhone.

I can also confirm that the 4-4-2024 s/w update has fixed the audio echo on calls. Also in the U.S.

I am having the same issue. When I make phone calls, the person on the other end hears the echo. I've tried shutting off bluetooth but it still happens. I will try turning the volume down to 20. Hoping this issue is fixed soon. I, too, had a software update recently.
Today I took my vehicle in for service and the dealer is aware of the issue. He said that the issue is not likely to be resolved until Genesis pushes the next update. He had a suggestion for us and I tried it. The person on the other end said the call sounded better than before. The recommendation is to reduce the volume below 21. I reduced the volume to 20 and the caller on the other end didn’t report any issues with the call.

The issue has been resolved. I don't know if they release it to everyone all at once, but If you did not get a notice for the new update, go to your settings and force it. Many, many others in various Genesis groups have reported that it solved the issue with Carplay.
I just checked my settings/SW update, and it is there waiting to install.
