  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The GV70 Trailer Hitch Discussion

I contacted a few trailer manufacturing places in the area that also install trailer hitches to see if anyone would consider manufacturing one that is more hidden, and that could guarantee strength would meet 3500 lbs towing capacity. Answer I get is they are not certified manufacturer of hitches and would not fabricate any hitch for liability reasons. This solidifies my concerns of going with a non-tested hitch not made by a brand name manufacturer, at least given my towing needs. Seriously hoping something more discreet comes available by the time I take delivery in Sept timeframe.

I just noted that Draw Tite has a hitch for the GV70. Not sure about availability.

This one requires drilling in your frame vs the Genesis version is a bolt on.

Just installed my Genesis factory hitch with my son. 1 hr work, $50 garage space lift rental, <$50 misc tools. Sure beats dealer service quote! 20220317_104655_resize_52.jpg

Great work, and thanks for posting pics.

Darn it though...it's so obtrusive. I want to have the flexibility of towing, but really don't like what it does to the beautiful aesthetics of the GV. Still hoping for a more discreet option.

Warning for anyone as stupid as me :D
Late for my group ride today because couldn't back car out of garage
Parking assist setting was on and saw my bike as an obstacle to be avoided. Couldn't overcome it with foot on gas pedal. 😂
Took me a while to find the setting to turn it off.

I ordered a hitch from the dealer and I intend to install the hitch myself. It doesn't look difficult. However, looking under my GV70 I can not find the threaded mounting holes or the foam plugs. Can anyone send me a picture of the location. It's possible I don't have any.

Can't send a picture, but I did it myself. Not hard. Definitely buy the inexpensive exhaust hangar removal tool.
Holes are there. Instruction manual pics stink. You'll see them after car up. Covered with peel-off stickers

My dealership quoted me "around $1000.-" for the labor alone to install the hitch and wiring harness... so, I installed them myself (about an hour for the hitch itself and a couple of hours for the wiring harness, at a leisurely pace). The instructions (available online) were pretty good.
Plus the Genesis factory hitch harness is an extra $189 on top of the hitch price.

Still waiting for aftermarket hitch. Anyone heard of one to date? So far we have Factory and Drawtite and strangely they seem to be the exact same price.

I'll check into say a run of 10 of them. Mine is just for bikes too, but I included the plate in case I pull a utility trailer. It's pretty far back and not very visible as I took that pic from like 18" off the ground. Here's a few pics showing the hitch before installation, OEM mounting points, and the backup light (with the sticker on it) which required the cutout In the hitch. And yes, it's powder coated a satin black to match the fascia instead of th usual gloss black.
Hello PopPop,

If the shop ultimately has concerns with producing more due to liability, would you be willing to share the dimensional drawings? Thanks.

So saw a FB post today about a Genesis hitch available in Australia. Damn...lets hope this makes its way to North America before I get my GV in Aug Sept!! This is the hitch I want!!!

Seriously though, what the heck is with Stealth or Hidden Hitch that they cannot duplicate something similar?? I have sent them an email offering to send them the pictures in hope that they will reconsider.

I agree, I hope someone starts selling this hitch in the US. It seems pretty straight forward
I guess Pop Pop has left the forum, his hitch was great.

Yea. Looks like someone brought up litigation and ruined it for the rest of us. I wanted that hitch for bikes only !

Dang, the Genesis KIT PART NO: ARA04APH00 looks more appropriate for the GV70. Just finished de/re-badging the GV70 for a clean look – would buy the ARA04APH00 immediately if it were available. Just cannot bring myself to installing the current Genesis SKU: H008 ARF61-AU000 as it looks like it is designed to be installed on a 1-ton pickup. Live about an hour from Stealth Hitches – would consider visiting them if I thought I may have a compelling design for them to consider, since it appears they may have already ruled out designing one from scratch for the GV70...IMG_4205 - Copy.webp

I also messaged Stealth Hitches indicating Genesis was offering a "hidden" hitch in Australia, sent them the info. They replied and said they would look into it. It wasn't a definite no, so still a small chance we may get a more aesthetically pleasing hitch. Keep fingers and toes crossed.

Let's hope Stealth will get into the game. Paying $500 for a bolted on, visible hitch that doesn't look visually integrated with the GV70 is not something I am interested in, but I need a hitch for multiple MTBs. Has anyone seen the Kuat Pro Piston X? It is definitely for the "why pay less" crowd, but it is also stunning.

That is very cool
For half price, without the touch button hydraulics, I love this rack:

I have a Stealth on a Telluride for a bike rack, 100% worth it. I believe their issue is the clearance between the frame and the exhaust where the horizontal cross bar needs to go, it would be tight but seems like you could get it in there. The Australian design Is fairly similar to the Stealth and they made it work. Lets hope they give it another look/design effort.

Installed the Drawtite hitch (Uhaul.com $350) by myself in about 2 hrs. Not visually pleasant but will serve the functional purpose for my bike rack.

Do we know why we couldn't purchase the Australian hitch and ship to the US? Anyone try to give Genesis Australia a call? They do sell both the 2.5t and 3.5t, I assume the undercarriage is the same?
