  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thinking of getting a new genesis

Yes, that is what I tell everyone, drive it. I report my findings and have no problem if someone disagrees with me. Its all relative. If you come from something very sporty the Gen feels soft if you came from most Lexus/Toyota/Buick vehicles the Gen is going to be too firm and "nervous". I am in the latter group and know better for next time.

I had a guy in a late model Town Car ask me about the Genesis. "I was looking at those, how do you like yours?" I basically said its a good car, except it won't have plush ride of your Town Car.

I too have had lots of cars (50+). I have had a Maxime and a couple of Nissan pickups and I must say they are bulletproof. Never the first problem except people kept running into the Maxima. Since I will not voluntarily buy another front drive car, my choices were limited. I currently have, in addition to my 4.6 Tech, a BMW with the sport pkg and run flat tires. You want to see bad ride, the BMW rides like it is on steel wheels bolted directly to the frame. Since the large share of my cars have been to the sporty side, I find the Cadillac, Avalon type of floaty uncontrolled ride and handling unacceptable to me. So far the Genesis has been trouble free and whatever they changed in the suspension for 2010 yields a good ride and decent handling. As far as reliability goes, my wife has a service lift with her name on it at the BMW dealer.

I love the firm ride of my 4.6 2010 and tell myself what a great decision this was every time I drive the car. Oh-it's my wifes car and she feels the same way. We traded her 03 LS 430 and she loves driving her car. I have to fight her for a chance to use the Genesis.

Dealership experience- My husband has a toyota and I have had a camery and two trucks. I always liked the brand so I was used to the Gresham and Milwaukie dealerships. As far as purchase's the Milwaukie dealership had the group sell thing going on which I never cared for and to be honest helped me look at the sea of car's that are out there. I absolutly love this car. I drive less than the average person and get to pop in and out on the freeway for a quickie . This v-6 is peppy and love's the on ramps. The car is beautiful inside and out and chocked full of the amentities others could only dream of having for the sticker price. The dealer ,well I must have hit the mother load as town and Country have been nothing short of family . They are smaller , don't have toyota's customer base so I win with more personalized service. Heres a few examples
New sealant - one line appointment , I walked right up no one waiting , took me the enterprise for a rental and the car was ready the next day
New tire - Got a screw in the tire ( darn it ) called on a friday , had the tire on Monday , some laid back mechanic took me to work.
Tree sap on my car - I called the service manager , he said to contact the compay who did my sealant - They said to take in to the dealer and have them start the claims process. I called the dealer back and he got me in the next day. They took the car to another business who does this type of work. Car was done in one day, I asked a few questions. Looks like my dealership will take care of it , no matter what He said I would not be charged since they just want to take care of me. I know , Maybe Im just cuter than the rest of you lol.

...maybe I'm just cuter than the rest of you lol.
I'm not all that cute (well, my wife says I am, but what does a grandmother know?), but my dealer takes good care of me anyway. Maybe it's my age...:)

We got our 2011 genesis 4.6 on September 20, 2010 after eight weeks or so of research and driving other cars including 2009 cert. BMW 535's, 2010 Acura TL, Acura RL, Acrua TSX, Volvo and 2011 Ford Taurus. 535 did drive better but is smaller and is slower and not as quiet. My wife and I like a firm controlled ride and put about 45,000 miles a year on our main car. We love the 4.6 Genesis which replaced our 2004 Acura with 239,000 miles on it. The Genesis is a far superior car to the Acura. I think that the 4.6 fully loaded is the way to go. I do agree that the Dunlop tires are at best just ok.

You're in Alberta, right?

Can you confirm what you mean by "ordered"? i.e. did you say you wanted a 3.8 with tech in colour X, and Hyundai is going to build one for you and ship it from Korea in 2-3 months? Or is Hyundai Canada going to find one in another city/province and send it over to your stealership?

(This is a long-standing subject of debate here. Apparently in the US dealers cannot factory order a Genesis, so if you want a black 3.8 Tech and Hyundai doesn't feel like building one, your dealer is SOL... unlike with the big three or the Europeans, where a dealer can usually submit an order and a matching car shows up 2-3 months later)

I bought my Genesis in White Rock back in May and got exactly what I wanted by having the dealer find it in Saskatchewan and shipping it out here. I was told at the time that the dealer had no ability to order direct from the factory and that my choices would be limited to what other dealers had in stock and how much freight I was willing to pay for. In my case it was less than $500 to get exactly the color and model I wanted (Red 4.8 w tech) which was worth it for me. My dealer was very helpful in helping me find the car and I drove it off the lot a week later. :)

No big deal and I love my car!!
