It is possible that the balance expires in 12 months, but that the physical card can be reloaded. But I have no specific knowledge of these cards.

Not sure if it exactly two years... but mine expires 12/14. Come to think of it... yeah, I think it's two years, then they send you a new one.

Though, didn't I read somewhere that Hyundai is willing to settle with owners now (for a significantly discounted "lifetime" value, I'm sure)? I'll keep my card, thank you very much.

Will wait another year and buy myself another car camera, perhaps?

Resurrecting this old thread as a reminder to get your mileage certified at your local Hyundai dealer this fall/winter.

An unexpected Benjamin or two is always nice around the holidays.

Things to keep in mind, since I just went through it:

1. A new card is issued every time you certify your mileage. If you haven't used the old one, do it before it expires - it should work like a Mastercard Gift Card, not a credit card. I got $1.65 left on the one from last year.
   
2. You will get an email with a link. Click it and answer 5 questions - they're basically trying to find out if you still own the car yourself or if someone else does. If you don't this, you don't get your money.
   
3. Buy your kids that new Wii U or PS4 or Xbox One, or whatever it is kids want these days.

The amount I got on my new card was significantly less than before. I'm sure time has a lot to do with it. Do you think they are paying out less as time goes by?

Wow, breaking news! They will soon be offering a lump sum settlement on this issue, rather than continuing the current reimbursement system. We is rich!!!!

"Owners of more than 850,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles that had their gas mileage revised downward will be eligible for lump-sum payouts under an agreement reached to end class-action litigation over the matter."

My lump sum settlement is headed toward the cost of an extended warranty IF Hyundai will allow that use of this money. How are YOU going to spend your windfall?

"The settlement includes the option of getting 150% of the payout in credit at a dealership so that it can be applied to maintenance and repair costs. Or the payout amount will be good for 200% of the cash amount when it comes to credit on purchase of a new vehicle."

As for the lump sum payment.... THANKS, but no thanks.

The average is $300 for a Hyundai. I've already gotten about $100 for each of the two years I've owned my R-Spec.

The language says the lump sum is for the total amount MINUS any amounts already reimbursed. Therefore... I'd probably be getting a check for $100 bucks if I chose the lump sum payment.

OR... I can wait until December and get my usual $100. Rinse and repeat in 2015, 2016, 2017... etc etc.

It’s been a long time since we’ve discussed this subject. How many folks here are still collecting money from Hyundai on this program? I haven’t cashed in lately due to the lack of odo mileage from Covid restrictions. Most members here likely know nothing about this subject.
