  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hoped in a '23 with 10k on the clock equipped with the 2.0 AWD prestige model. I'm 5' 11 and 200 lbs and the seat was so low and would not come back far enough for my liking, 30 minute drive with 20 minutes in a 45 zone with average traffic and 10 on a 65 mph highway. I felt a lot more cramped coming from my '20 Sonata Limited. This thing has way more power than I'll ever need, the ride was good but a lot of wind noise from the front passenger door area. I'm going to get the '22 from another dealer out of town and I believe getting use to this car won't be a problem. The '22 2.0 RWD Prestige is not easy to find in silver. Window tint will be the only mod for this old boy.

Glad you like it. Im sure it will grow on you even more.

Looks great!

Got some more shots? Side, rear. I have the same but with the black wheels. I like the silver!

Congrats Canon! I picked up my new Savile Silver G70 just over a week ago, but it was in the shop this week getting the windows tinted (35%) and some PPF done. I really got to drive it for the first time today, I put about 300kms/200 miles on it driving some back roads to Calabogie Motorsports park. Unfortunately, it wasn't to drive my new car on the track, but rather to put our Mazda CX5 in storage for the winter (long crazy story).

Your 20% looks awesome, but here that would get me pulled over and ticketed (particularly just across the border in Quebec). I also really love the look of the wheels - I've got a post on the Canada forum looking to trade my new/unused 19" Sport wheels (the "black" ones) for a new set like yours!

Beautiful! The wheels look nice with that silver.
IMO, that 10-spoke is the best looking out of all the OEM G70 wheels. Too bad they weigh as much as they do. If they are closer to 20 lbs, I probably would've kept ours.

@Volfy, are they heavier than the black ones that my 3.3T SP came with? (I have no idea what to call them, given they are technically also 10-spoke!)

Doubt it. I weighed the black sport wheels the other day. The rears are 47.7lbs and fronts 44.1 if memory serves me...

Heavy!!!!
Was this with tires or just the rims? Either way they feel heavy when carrying down into the basement for winter storage lol.

The MPS4S tires weigh 22.4lbs F and 23.8lbs R (according to Michelin), so if those are package weights that's less than 22lbs for the front wheel and 24lbs for the rear which is pretty good.

I think someone had mentioned that the 10-spokes are low and mid thirties?

I remember someone had posted the weights of the black SP wheels, but I don't recall what the numbers were.

I did weight the 10spoke polished wheels that came with our G70 6MT and they were as shown:

Tire Rack lists these Michelins at 24 lbs front and 25 lbs rear (not sure how accurate these are).

FWIW, the Enkei TFR 18x8.5 I replaced these with weigh in right around 20 lbs each.

Found 1 thread here talking about the Sport "5 spoke" wheel weight. Seems about the same as the 10-spoke ones. Weight of the OEM 5 spoke sport rims?

Either way, that is a lot of unsprung weight and rotational inertia.

Jason at Engineering Explained did a video on how wheel weight/size affected Tesla range, and it was pretty substantial. The same penalty applies to ICE vehicles. Range might not be that big a concern for gasoline cars, but if it take that much more energy to accel/decel, it is a testament to how it would affect performance and handling.

Thanks Volfy, found that thread too... but they are talking about the 1st gen 5 spokes (which I think look nicer). Slip_Angle seems to have found the new ones are much less?

Wow, I guess they do weigh less. Compared to the 18s from my 2019 G70 and my winters, they feel like they weigh a ton..

To your point, I changed the stock 13.1lb wheels on my Miata to 11.75lb ones, and the change in the car was quite noticeable even with the exact same tires I just moved over. Now part of it was likely that the 1" wider wheel stiffened up the sidewalls which would contribute to the responsiveness, but the car generally felt lighter on its feet with that ~10% reduction in unsprung weight.

As long as the wheels are load-rated properly, there is really no downside to lighter weight. They help your suspension better able to control unsprung mass movement, which in turn helps to keep the tire stick to the road surface for more consistent traction. Less rotational inertia means quicker accel/decel, which boosts performance and enhances safety... and improves mpg to boot. Car will ride smoother as well.

Like Jason with EE, I too wish car mfrs would quit putting big ass wheels on their car for vanity sake. They should be no larger than would fit over the biggest brakes of the line. Unless Genesis sees fit to upgrade G70 to 15" front rotors and Brembos 6pot Monoblocs (which I think they should), the current brakes need no larger than 18"s.
