  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tilt Down Mirrors...quirky...

Not to disparage anyone, but I do not comprehend the purpose of these responses. Forums are a place to share and exchange information, and it is conceivable the OP read the OM but overlooked the mirror functionality. In any case the OP took the time to visit the forum (which is a positive as we grow our community) to ask a question in hopes of gaining resolution.

In virtually the same time it takes to "inform" the OP they should read the manual, an answer could have been provided in a sentence or two.

Amen!
Help is what we are all here for. There is not a person here who has not been helped by others at some point by this great sharing of knowledge. DJaxx I was amazed on how well you put your point across with such eloquence and tact!

Austin is moving to back-in diagonal parking. The mirror depress feature is really great for this kind of parking. I can easily see the line on the curb side of my car to get in straight. The backup camera takes care of when to stop.

Thank you my friend......appreciate the props. :D

I know the "read the OM" responses are in many cases penned in jest, but I still have a hard time understanding how they forward any meaningful discussion on the topic.

Anyway, glad the community was able to step up as usual for the OP! ;)

Thank goodness for this site. I also was having trouble getting my mirrors to tilt. Searched the OM but couldn't find anything. Then did a google and found this site and you guys answered my question already!!

Think I'm gonna be a regular visitor here!!

There's another cool thing with the mirror tilt down feature that I discovered recently.

I set my mirrors up so that they are well out from the sides of the car, in order to minimize blind spots. When the mirrors tilt down (in reverse gear) they are now way to far out to show the curb - making the tilt down pretty much useless. For that reason, I usually leave the mirror switch in the neutral position.

About a month ago, I adjusted the right mirror inwards while it was tilted down because of an unusually high curb that I really didn't want to hit. I figured I would need to remember to reset the outward angle of the mirror when I left.

Now here's the cool part; when I set the transmission in Park and the mirror came up it also went back to it's memorized position. Knowing this, makes the tilt down function much more useful for me because I don't have to worry about it messing up my normal settings.

BTW I've just recently moved from a 2009 V6 tech to a 2012 V6 tech and this works for both of them. I can also confirm that my 2012 tilts both mirrors down in either L or R while my 2009 would only tilt the right one down when the switch was in the R position.
