Tilt Steering Wheel Reset Fixes many

Well, here I am again trying to reset the steering wheel to go all the way up and it will not reset. Guess the fix only works for a while. Reset worked a few times but not any more.

Hyundai does have a fix now and your dealer can perform it per a couple of TSB's instructions.

Did you have your dealer perform the TSB? Module install and software update. Had my module replaced but setting wouldnt save. Had to take it back in for a new software update.

The reset fixed the up and down movement of the steering wheel but the in and out movement does not work. Do you know of a reset or fix the this problem?

Does anyone have a fix for the steering wheel when it doesn't go in and out? My arms are not long enough to hold the steering wheel comfortably - hard to drive this way.

I wanted to share the reset fix that has been discovered. I did not figure it out but I think MikeC did. Anyway the below proceedure seems to work for many that have the tilt wheel memory/reduced motion problem.

Then I moved the wheel in towards the dash, also holding that down for around 10 seconds after it stopped moving. Then when I pressed 'up', it went all the way!

After starting and stopping the engine, the memory system seems to be back again. Although this is annoying, it is a lot better than needing the dealership to do it each time.

Posted by Homeofstone..I had noticed in the last week that my steering wheel was not going up as far as it use to on the exit function. Tried this and presto! all is back to normal with full motion. Thanks for this reset fix, it is soooo easy.

Posted by GenesisV8tech.....Yes, the reset procedure did the trick and the steering column now has a full range of motion. I left "easy access" feature on and the steering wheel does not seem to be creeping down the dashboard so far(one day) every time I start the vehicle. The previously remembered positions of seat and wheel are getting where they were before I pushed the stop button.
Thank you so very much for this! I just tried this on my 2011 4.6L and it worked! This has been bugging me for months, so I can’t thank y’all enough for posting this fix!

I did reset procedure to my 2011 4.6 about a month ago and it fixed it. Steering wheel goes up and down all the way.

I've tried this trick with my parents 2009 and problem is most times if I even try to move the steering wheel it stutters and barely moves, if at all. So to do the "reset" it would require full movement for all steps, which I probably couldn't get the wheel to do so unless there is another option, this reset won't work for our wheel.

I did ask the dealer to look into and they want $3000 to replace whole steering column!! Nope, not going to happen.

My telescope went out. The wheel is in lowest position, and will not move at all. Have used the reset in the past, with excellent results. Same problem with power seats also. Everything kept drifting during auto movement. I also noticed that not inserting presence key made the problem worse. I guess I need to visit my dealer for repairs. Any comments? Please!

My 2009 4.6 Tech has 114k and runs like a top. What a great car. Just had this issue and after two tries it worked. I am hoping it lasts but glad to know I don’t have to drive to FL with my steering wheel blocking my speedometer. Thanks!

Was very frustrating, could barely tilt high enough to see top of speedometer...this fixed it immediately THANKS

I tried this but my steering wheel went down and now won't go up so i'm stuck with it on my lap. I have to lower my seat now. It will still go in and out as that hasn't changed.

I had noticed same with steering wheel, and power seats. Keep in mind that when insertion of "key", the wheel and seat will move to position. If you do noot use the "key", push starter to acc, to start movement, then push again to start car. This should eliminate the lack of movement problem. I discovered this when I would move car to mow grass, or we were entertaining and needed more driveway.
