  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anybody have an estimate of time it takes to start seeing side mirrors defrost/defog? How long does it take to start defog of rear window - time till windowbegins to clear along lines?

I just bought a 2012 Geness V6 sedan and it seems to take 15 to 20 minutes to defog rear windows and 6 minutes to clear side rear mirrors (when outside temp is about 6deg celsius). With my honda/acura it seemed to work within a couple of minutes, so I took my car into dealer and they said it is supposed to take this long because they compared it against another care of the same model. They said it is supposed to work better when its cold outside and really only works for ice.

This really makes me upset - anyone else notice this. Am I right to complain about this? Any suggestions for going to Hyundai to complain?

Relax and enjoy your comfortable seat. My Accord's leather seat had the comfort of a park bench. I could never find a comfortable setting. The ride was as hard as a Conestoga wagon.

^^ What does this have to do wit anything?!

Also, retested my rear defogger this morning with JUST fog. The other days it had moisture on it too. I saw the lines begin in 2 minutes and was completely clear in 6 mins.

Thanks for measuring this. It prompted me to follow up immediately, instead of taking abuse from dealership.

So I called Hyundai Canada and complained. Person on phone talked to technician and response was that it should clear any rear window frost within 10 minutes, especially at warmer temperatures. She offered to call Service Manager of dealership directly to get their technical support person to guide dealership in proper diagnosis, so I gave her info to do this.

I also called dealership back to tell them and they would also check into it so I'm hoping all gets resolved. I suspect the rear window will have to be replaced because during manufacture the resistive lines got corroded while exposed to air/humidity. Does replacement of rear window lead to other problems (i.e. fogging of rear window due to improper seal), anything I should be concerned about?

I was told by Hyundai Canada that I could take car to another dealership if I'm not satisfied with service. Which I will do if my original dealer continues to misbehave. Probably will see another dealership for follow on service after this.

I concur; I had that condenstaion that forms on the outside mirror glass from driving in cold and foggy conditions yesterday morning. It was 41 degrees outside temp, and it cleared up completely in about 2 minutes.
