I have to say I am extremely impressed with this car. Major step forward in and out compared to old platform E65/66.
Interior is showcase of high quality materials that give one the feel of a true luxury sedan. The cockpit gives me a sense of security I never experience before. The ride is quiet, steady and undisturbed by uneven pavement. No wind noise whatsoever. I ride on 20 inch wheels (Sport Package) with RFT.
If this car is so quiet with RFT i only wonder how better the ride will get on regular tires (RFT's are notorius for being noisy to a certain degree).
This car seems to be on rails. No bodylean whatsoever. Bumps on the road are absorbed to the point where they can be neglected.
Power comes very linear and the torque (450 lb) does make any passing task a breeze.
This car is a CPO, warranty until November 2017. I cross my fingers and hope for the best!![]()
I personally do not think a direct comparison between two cars is fair. Each one is among the best in its class.
They both have pluses and minuses. There is no such thing like perfect car![]()
Yes, I agree; they are in two different leagues. While a head to head comparison is not really fair; I was wondering if there are some things that you felt the Genesis did/had that exceed its expectations for the price, and what influenced your decision to move up.

I think Genesis has a fantastic engine. Smooth, quiet and powerful. I would also give a tumbs up to tranny although I think the 6 speed is better than existing 8 speed tranny that is found on 2012+ Genesis.
Suspension...yada..yada...still needs a lot of work. Unexcusable amount of body movement for a car that targets the luxury/sport segment of the market.
My 2 cents![]()

For myself a head to head comparison is fair.......My benchmark is reliability. If a car spends more time at the dealer getting fixed, I could care a less how much it 'hugs the road' and 'how it handles'.
So far my Genesis has been Flawless going on 3 years. I just don't see that reliability with German Cars. When they don't have to be 'Fixed' all the time, I may consider one.

Agreed. According to the stats however the new generation 7 series (2009+) seems to be a lot more reliable than its predecessor. Judging by how complex these cars are I thing Germans did pretty well.

Ok so doing a quick search I came up with the following.
'13 BMW M5 100K
0-60 4.5
1/4 12.5
G's .92
'13 R Spec 46K
0-60 5.1
1/4 13.7
g's .87
So is it really worth the extra 50K +?
What I really like about my Genesis apart from being perfectly reliable, luxurious, powerful, well equipped and a great value is everybody wants to know what kind of car it is. Yes it has the wing treatment and yes here they are far and few between and not like Florida where they seem to be as common as corollas. We have Mercedes and BMW dealerships in my city and my lord it seems like every other car is either just another Mercedes or BMW. Especially any of the 3 or 5 series BMW, about as common as Fords. No fun having what everybody else has and not having to pay an exorbitant premium is kinda cool also.Something about this car just rubs me the right way, normally I change cars every 3 years and will do so again but I think I will keep this one for just Sunday drives or a "fun car" if you prefer. This car is just sexy for lack of a better word.
No one has been able to beat BMW’s M cars (particularly the M3 and M5) in all-around performance. .
