  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How are you approaching tinting? The same all around? Darker for the back?

Check your state laws. Some have darker in the back but have the lighter front so they will comply. As the driver, you also have to see out at night and too dark may not work for you.

Or province, if in Canada. I believe that Canadian tint laws are quite strict on the front side windows, but it various by province (some don't allow any tint all on front sides).

Agreed.. pretty sure everywhere in Canada the front side windows are illegal if tinted but every 2nd car i see has tinted windows and some are even limo tint.. you probably wont get pulled over but you will most likely get a ticket if you get pulled over for something else.

I find 15 tint too dark at night for the front side windows as its hard to see but each to their own

I have 20% on all my windows but limo on the back windshield so people inadvertently driving with their brights on at night don't bother me. 20% is a good mix of privacy and ability to see out at night - but I have better than 20/20 vision.

I live in the southern US and I would never consider a 15 VLT on front side windows, or even the rear glass. With a quality ceramic tint film, one can get excellent heat rejection with a 35 VLT or even higher (I have a 50 VLT ceramic tint film on my Genesis, except for windshield).

People who want privacy, should get a black interior, coupled with a ceramic tint film that has a VLT of about 35-50, and you will have more than sufficient privacy inside the car.

I will refer back to this post for my next vehicle. It sounds like an interesting option.

I have 17% all around and 50% on the windshield. Haven't been stopped and probably never will. If you have a sunroof just keep the "blind" open so light can come through on top; it makes my bald a** head shine so ithe windows seem more "transparent". If you're concerned with tickets, I'd advise you to do what some of the others are recommending; check your tint laws and go from there.

I've ordered mine with 20-25% on the back 5 windows, nothing on the driver/passenger windows or windshield. I'll post pics when the car arrives.

Well, I can certainly see why. The average high temperature in July (the hottest month of the year in Edmonton, Alberta) is a blistering 73.6 F.

I'll do 18% all around, with 60% on the entire windshield, and limo tint on the top part of the windshield. I like my privacy. :sneaky:

I have 35% on all the windows except the windshield. This is the maximum legal tint in Illinois.
If possible, could you post a pic or two? I'm leaning towards 35% tint on all the windows (except the windshield) and would like to see what it looks like.

Unless you use the exact same tint film (not just same VLT) it may look different. A full ceramic 35 will look a lot different than a carbon 35, etc.

True enough. Thanks.

Looks good. Thanks.

My last 3 cars have been 35% front and 20% rears although I have been thinking about 35% all around this time. Still haven't done it yet as I haven't had time and I am undecided regarding the PPF.

Tint looks good @Windchaser

Here you go. (Not the best quality picture)

Trim.webp

I noticed your trim around your door is not even. Mine is the same way. Only the top of the trim is off center. The bottom of the trim below the window is perfectly in line. How long have you had yours?

I hadn't really noticed that. I will have to look at it a bit more closely. I picked the car up March 19, 2018 so it will be 2 months tomorrow.
