  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tinting

Alan;
I'm up here in Montreal and winter in Miami. Just recently got my Polar Ice G80 3.3t and love it (as you will). Can you recommend a reliable and honest tint dealer in Miami area? Thanks
Jack
Cermainc tint fims are the best, in that they don't fade, and allow all radar and radio transmissions to pass through, while having high heat rejection.

Florida is pretty lenient in that they allow low VLT rating (visible light transmission, the lower the darker), but I believe Montreal requires VLT of at least 70% for the front side windows. That allows police to be able to see inside your car when they approach your car. You can use darker tint film on the rear sides and back (none on front windshield).

3M makes a good 70 VLT called Crystalline. You may want to look around in Montreal first, since it may have higher availability in Montreal. Using a high quality 70 VLT film all around is not a bad choice, but will provide limited privacy.

The best installers usually carry the highest quality tint films.

Finally got around to tinting my G80. I was debating how dark to go and finally decided to err on the cautious side and only got a 50% Madico ceramic film. Night visibility is good and that was my concern about getting darker. It definitely makes a difference in the sun.

Tint was not a concern when I live up north but it is much sunnier here year round. Improves appearance of the car too!

Just did Formula 1 ceramic 30% all around and Air Blue 80 for front windshield. Black interior and am in SC. Makes a huge difference. Same tint on my Lexus GS350 with black interior. No issues.

only got a 50%
50% ceramic is great - you'll def notice a difference in heat. Though sitting in the sun all day the car will heat up no matter what tint you have. I have 35% and the only thing I have to do sometimes is turn off the automatic mirror dimmer (occasionally). Raise your window shades up and it looks super dark from outside.
A 50% tint def looks better than stock
