  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So after 22,000 on OEM Bridgestone Potenza tires I am looking to purchase new 19 inch all season tires - any recommendations?

continental DWS

Thanks for the advice. Have you owned the Conti-DWS on your Genesis? Any experience with them pulling to right? That is the only issue I see from reviewers on TireRack. Otherwise looks good to me.

No I have not owned them, I use Grand touring tires, Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus, a fantastic tire. On my Mercedes I have a set of Cooper RS3-A tires and really like them but I don't have any info on how long the Coopers last. Check MotorTrend for a review of the Cooper tires. Consumer Reports also rates the Coopers high.

I have the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. They are quiet and reasonably supple. I have driven in the rain a lot recently (Chattanooga to St. Louis at 80 mph) and they did very well. I also drove in a half inch of slush and they did well there, also. They seemed to need a couple hundred miles to scrub in, so if you get them, you should give them a couple weeks to develop their best performance.

I also replaced the OEM Dunlop 5000's on my 2010 4.6 with Continental ExtremeContact DWS's.
I've only been driving on them for about four weeks.
Comfort level is way better - the ride is far less jarring.
Road noise level is also much better.
There is one big downside - handling is ridicuously squishy. The one thing I loved about the Dunlops was that I could do imaginary pylons down deserted sidestreets and there was vitually no body roll - the car stayed perfectly flat like a go kart. I also took highway on and off ramps at way above the posted speed limit with no slippage or tire squealing. You simply can't do that with the Continental's. Given that I just turned 50, this is probably a good thing. I 've heard that handling improves dramatically after a couple of hundred miles so will try to follow up on this post to let you know.

X2^

I purchased these on the recommendation of a couple of friends; one with a IS-350, and the other with an A6. Both of them stated that for a UHP all season tire, they had above average dry weather traction, and grip almost "too well" in the wet. Being a Washington resident, wet weather is the order for the majority of the year, hence the need for a tire that sticks in the rain.

The DWS's replaced the stock Bridgestone RE050's on my M56. At first, I had thought I made a huge mistake. They were really soft on cornering, and had "greasy" traction under power.

Luckily, as others have mentioned, they do need to scrub in, and improve with some miles. I am at about 500 miles on them, and they feel tighter and stick better. I am still playing with tire pressure to get the balance I like, but am confident these tires will be a purchase one does not regret.
