If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Tires,Tires

Tire rack highly recommended the Bridgestone Dueller HL Alenza's for my 4.6 sedan.
Firestone also did the same.Cost about $900.00 out the door at Firestone.Anyone use
these before?

I've been saying for a while that when I do change my tires, I was going with the BFG "KDWS", and I still think very highly of that tire, however in speaking with friends who may have more knowledge then me, I checked out the Pirelli P Zero Nero (thats Nero not Rosso). The price is right, and my "tire nut friends" claim it is even better than the KDWS.

Now I have two tires to consider when I do change.

Are there any all seasons out there that will do decent in the snow? I have always had front wheel drive, and have gotten around fine before. I am still trying to decide if I should give these tires a shot in the snow or just upgrade now to a better all season tire. A friend of mine really likes his Pilot Sport A/S Plus on his Bonneville GXP. (same 18" wheel size as the Genesis). He has not experienced snow with them yet.

Thanks

This is my first rear wheel drive in YEARS, with the stock tires I had toruble in 1/2" of wet snow (Milwaukee Wi.) I broke down and bought a set of Bridgstone Bliz. for the rear. What a difference, it is all most like front wheel drive in the snow.

I just bought a set of winter tires and rims from Tire Rack. I decided.....after doing a few days of research, that the 17" rims and tires were a much better route.....and I probably saved $500 Cdn over the 18" rims and tires. I bought 225/55R-17 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS60 AND ELBRUS 104 RIMS. Seems to make sense doing a package deal and saves the hassle to mounting and re-mounting winter and summer tires. And as Sfu88 said....the Genesis Canadian versions don't have TPMS which saves a lot of extra work and cash. Should be here in another 5 days and with how cold it just turned here looks like I'll need them sooner then later!

I just bought four 18" Bridgestone Blizzaks (probably should haver gone with the 17's) with TPMS and the Elbrus 104 wheels. I love those wheels, even more than the badged summer tire. I couldn't believe I ordered them on Monday before Christmas and they got to Long Island Wednesday, installed them in time for the snow to melt.

I am a recent winter tire convert. After my son put our Volvo S60 into the concrete wall a couple winters ago, my brother strongly suggested I consider winter only tires. I bought a set of Blizzaks for our Acura and the difference, between them and good rated all seasons was dramatic. I had to drive my son back to college in a snow storm last year. On the way I counted over 20 cars accidents...cars off the road, nose down in ditches, rearend collisions...a total mess. Meanwhile our Acura tracked straight and true. I was passing 4 wheel drive SUV's. Heck, I even had to get around a pickup truck that couldn't make it up a hill.

Tire rack has a great video demonstrating the difference between all seasons and winter tires. They drove cars on an indoor ice arena. On ice, they were able to stop a car, from 10mph, in 21 feet with winter tires compared to 40 feet with all seasons. The winter tires stopped in nearly half the distance. This can easily be the difference between a scare and an expensive trip to the collision shop.

For our new Genesis I ordered a set of Elbrus I06's with General Altimax Artics. Went with 215x60's. For winter driving, on snow and slush, narrower is better. Here in Michigan, the winter tires go on in December and come back off in March. They should last about 4 years of winter driving. I store them in plastic trash bags to reduce the exposure to ozone. Bought them with TPS. My local Hyundai dealer agreed to recalibrate them for free when I bought the car there (has to be done any time you change the sensors because the Genesis I.D.'s the sensors to the location...ie...front right.)

I am at 18,900 miles and got a nail in my left rear tire yesterday. I have been happy with the Dunlops to this point though they were getting close to needing to be replaced (I estimated 20k).

I changed them for the Pirelli P Zero Neros this morning. Great price at Discount Tire ($150 ea.). So its still early but they are very quiet. I haven't pushed them hard yet, but so far very happy.

I would love some detailed feedback on the P zero nero when you have miles on them,

lets us know....
