  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

To those thinking of purchasing a Genesis:Hyundai doesn't care to replace LEMONS

Re: To those thinking of purchasing a Genesis: DON'T!

Even though my story is not as horrific as yours is, I have a comment, that could possibly also serve as advice for some about not buying a Genesis. I am the owner of a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Even when my vehicle hasn't been that bad to me (I had my fair share of problems, but nothing along the lines of what you describe), my dealership experience has been worse than awful. I paid around forty thousand dollars for this car, but when I go back to my delaership (HUB HYUNDAI WEST in Houston), I am treated like the owner of a fifteen thousand Hyunday Accent. The waiting room is a 10X10 rat cage, with the most uncomfortable chairs you can ever imagine, and no entretainment whatsoever. Just awful! What a far cry from the treatment that I received from my Lexus dealer (I used to have a GS300 before the Genesis). If you want "cheap", go for the Genesis. That's how your dealer will treat you. I'd rather spend a little bit extra and enjoy the next several years being treated the way I like and deserve. My last piece of advice: If you still decide to buy the Genesis, don't buy from HUB HYUNDAI. You will come to regret it eventually. Just like I did

Thanks for mentioning the dealer.

I don't know why HyundaiUSA doesn't establish some minimum standards for dealer facilities and training. McDonald's does, and while you don't get gourmet food at least you know what to expect. Hyundai is all over the map - some dealers are awful, like those mentioned here, and some are excellent - like mine, Ourisman in Laurel, MD. Maybe it's because Ourisman has been in business for something like 70 years and has more dealerships than I can count, and they know how to sell/service cars and how to treat customers.

In any case, you shouldn't tar them all with the same brush. And shame on the bad apples.

My experience as well.

I've purchased 4 vehicles from Lee Hyundai, Fayetteville, NC. They completely disapointed me throughout my ordeal with the first Genesis. Ratty service area, ratty customer lounge, constant parade of new service employees, including 4 different service managers over an 8 month period.

Johnson Hyundai of Cary, NC was completely different. Both my Genesis' suffered from the same basic problem, but Johnson Hyundai managed to convince me they gave a crap about me and my car. Whether they did or didn't, they convinced me they did. In the future, if I buy another Hyundai/Lexus/Subaru, it'll be from them.
