  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Top speed R-Spec Genesis

I noticed something tonight in my 2014 R-Spec. When I was going through the Nav Menu I was able to find a screen which shows all of the satellites that the system was picking up. Well, it also shows vehicle speed per GPS. I was on an open road I was able to hit 128 on the GPS built into the system. I would like to run it out on the GPS and see what the speed shows to try and answer the question of top speed and if the 2014 has any limiter as some magazines report. But I do not really have the roads to do it. Interesting though as I didn't know the GPS from the factory would actually show speed in real time like that.

Yep... The 2012 does same thing.. Shows altitude too.is what is used the get the measurement that started a poop storm many comments ago.. And the speedo was reading about same up until it went past the 160 mark (now that will cause more drive by poop throwing.. :) also, understand acceleration, the GPS will read slow.. Has a tiny lag by couple of mph I have found in general.

I had my 2010 4.6 up to 142mph and was running out of safe (?) highway. To say it was "pulling hard" would be a bald faced lie. It was pulling, but, not push-me-back-in-the-seat pulling. I don't think it had much more left. Would have been surprised to make it to 150 but don't really care.
Only time I've been faster than that on land was when I raced motorcycles 35 yrs ago.

Where in the nav is this feature?

I am not near my car at the moment, but you can dig a little and find it. Go into the NAV settings menu and you will see a selection where it shows the satellites - it is there.

When I am in my car I will take a look at the exact sequence of steps and then update my post. However, it is not difficult to find.

I just tested Er again today. According to the gps 147mph is it. Was pulling hard then then just stopped at 147 and 4000rpm or so. Quite a drop from the last time I tried with just the speedo

Well... Looks like 2013 R-Spec in Canada is limited to 149-150mph indicated. Assuming you still have same tires from factory, never been someplace for new tires where he ECU limits were changed, or went to dealer for a ECU "upgrade". You guys have AWD V8 gen two, but not 2013 R-Spec that does what it is capable.
