Right on. And consider the separated truck tire teads in your lane, the unexpected animal crossings or the slick deposited by a leaking delivery vehicle or the clog of traffic ahead where all lanes are in use or the unexpected event ahead (perhaps a breakdown or an accident).
One cannot use public roads at speeds in excess of 100 mph at any time, under any conditions, without exposing themselves and innocents to extreme danger.
I request that the moderators of this forum block this type of thread in the future.
In my experience, these types of discussions rarely do much to alter opinions on either side. Personally, I'm firmly in the no-excessive speed camp. I'm a physician at a level I trauma center, and I've seen many tragic results over the years. Of course, excessive speed doesn't only mean over 100 MPH - under conditions like the ones we had here last week, 40 MPH might be too fast.
