  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Top Speed Run

Right on. And consider the separated truck tire teads in your lane, the unexpected animal crossings or the slick deposited by a leaking delivery vehicle or the clog of traffic ahead where all lanes are in use or the unexpected event ahead (perhaps a breakdown or an accident).

One cannot use public roads at speeds in excess of 100 mph at any time, under any conditions, without exposing themselves and innocents to extreme danger.

In my experience, these types of discussions rarely do much to alter opinions on either side. Personally, I'm firmly in the no-excessive speed camp. I'm a physician at a level I trauma center, and I've seen many tragic results over the years. Of course, excessive speed doesn't only mean over 100 MPH - under conditions like the ones we had here last week, 40 MPH might be too fast.

Public roads don't always mean deep city downtown driving do they? There are plenty of roads in BFE that are great for the Genesis or any car to have fun with that have limited traffic if any, and have fun windy roads with straights.

In the first video, I'm a little freaked out by the way you're holding the steering wheel through that turn. You need to learn about "shuffle steering and keeping both hands on the wheel. Especially at those speeds. ;)

I'm aware of the shuffle steering method, but it's kinda hard when holding the camera in the other hand:D This was only a short amount of action that day. Didn't really enjoy driving with one hand, so I made a quick vid and set the camera down for the rest of the time.

I had a 2009 4.6 which I drove to 145 and felt solid, very competent. I ran out of room and had to slow down. There was plenty more in the car I think 160 would be attainable if there is no limiter. I now have a 2010 I drove to 142 and it was solid as well. I have had 2 Infiniti Q45s and they werent as solid at 120. Dont worry I am friends with State Police and they watched road for me I was in the country on 1.25 mile stretch with no houses and no obstructed view.
I was hit head on by Drunk driver on the interstate and totaled my 2009, it saved my life.

I did 140 on straight stretch of I-15 going to Vegas.
Car felt solid, my wife didn't even realize we went that fast until I told her.
The steering wheel became really heavy, and suddenly all around started moving fast :)
Regularly drive 85-100, depending on traffic
Radar detector proved to be worseless, at least in OC - I'm taking it back to BestBuy

I did about 140 for a couple miles. No shake, no rattle, but stable. I now know what Genny is capable of doing and won't likely do it again as I don't have nine lives.

BTW, received 2 speeding citations within a year of purchase. I now have Escort 9500ix and it has saved me about 2 speeding tickets so far from the Ka band.
