  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There is a 1" rubber strip around the back of the car that is a pain in the arse.
I had a very small ding in it down to the black rubber. I used Hyundai paint touch up and it attacked the rubber and I ended up with a blackish gummy mess. Then my wife brushed our PT Cruiser backing up, and took another inch of paint off the same strip, but not a mark on the Cruiser. It was barely moving when they touched. Finally got a bodyshop to repaint the whole thing, but I was warned adhesion to rubber is never good. Also any kind of polish except pure carnauba wax (Griots) leaves scratches.
The car is metallic red, and the paint doesn't seem very tough. A bird pooped on the hood and left two chip marks down to the undercoat, presumably from grit. I seem to recall paying extra for that paint too. Anyone else had similar problems?
End of whinge.

Has car been waxed at least 3 times a year? Wax will help protect paint from tree sap and bird crap. Also, the body shop is full of it, paint will be tough if proper prep is done and proper additives are used in the paint.

Thank God i wax it every 2 weeks....bird poops come off sliding lol

I wax only twice a year but only hand wash. I use Griots Best of Show pure carnauba wax.No abrasives of any kind. I also have a bra on the car that looks pretty sharp now the price has come down.
