Well, I had to say a very sad goodbye this evening to my 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6. I found a certified pre-owned 2013 Genesis R-Spec online that caught my eye, and I pulled the trigger tonight. It has 37,000 miles and I paid $1,400 extra for the Hyundai 100,000 mile "wrap" extended warranty, especially to cover costly electronic repairs. The purchase price was $25,900. This R-Spec is fast as hell!
It's platinum metallic (the shimmery silver color) with the requisite black interior. I'm happy to have some new features on this one that weren't available on my '09 (e.g. radar cruise control, auto hold, rear heated seats, updated navigation interface, power folding mirrors, a color display between the speedometer and tachometer, etc.). However, I do miss the wooden steering wheel and the two tone brown dash leather with contrasting black seat leather.
On my drive home, which was 80 miles, I tried to take note of all the pros and cons. I could only find ONE con, and that is the quality of the 17 speaker Lexicon stereo. My '09 had the tech package, and the Lexicon stereo in it sounded much better, much richer, and much clearer than the supposed-to-be-identical 17 speaker Lexicon stereo in this '13. I've read on here that the quality diminished over the years and I have to say, I seriously am PISSED that the sound quality isn't as good. Everything, no matter what song I play, is just way less clear. It's a real shame and almost was a deal breaker for me. Oh well, I guess.
Everything else are pros. Acceleration, steering response, handling, suspension (goes over bumps much more solidly and refined compared to my '09), headlights, and overall put-together feel. All in all, I'm very happy with my new toy. Now I just need to get the windows tinted and re-badge the trunk lid with the Genesis emblem....
