Hey all,
I have a weird problem and was hoping others could help.
When i am in gear (most apparent in gears 1,2, less apparent in higher gears) and calling for full power, the transmission feels like it is slipping and catching as the rpms rise.
For example, if i need to pass and i floor it, the trans will downshift and start to pull (love that 5.0L btw). at random spots in the rpm range, it will feel like there is a momentary reduction in acceleration, then an instant later it would sort of grab again. it may do this 2-5 times in the same gear up to redline.
It feels like the torque converter is unlocking and locking again, or a band in the trans is slipping and catching.
it is repeatable, and can be made to happen at any road speed. its most apparent in lower gears because it hits harder, but may happen in higher gears too, just wont feel it as much.
the car has 66,700 km on it. there are no codes or CELs, and my OBD reader does not show any misfires or other issues. it does seem to happen at large throttle openings, when calling for lots of power (though doesnt have to be wide open throttle to happen, just need to call for passing/merge power).
Any help, insight, or stories of similar are appreciated. Thanks!
