  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody experience transmission stutter at gear changes? I have a 2013 3.8l sedan. The best way to describe the sensation, the gear changes are at too low an rpm. Its avsimilar feeling when you are driving a standard, and its in too high a gear

How many miles on your vehicle? Ever changed the trans fluid?

I see. At how many miles?

Unfortunately, it's not surprising to hear you're having tranny issues. Many people on here have had tranny issues well before 150K.

Have you crawled under it and checked the drive shaft coupler's?

similar to my experience when the Transmission had to be replace....it cause a jerky shifting?

I think that would make a constant, knocking, rattling noise, but no, I haven't checked.
I do not believe so. I would believe cracked coupler would act like a worn out universal joint. Which can cause hesitation and a delay in power transferring to the rear end.

I would check it before I even considered a new transmission.

If I gun it, there is no hesitation, if I manually switch gears, there is no hesitation.

Like I mention I would check the coupler before thinking it is a trans issue.

From what RPM to what RPM and at what MPH?

between 1250 and 1500 RPM, and anywhere from 30 mph up
That's a normal RPM range: upshifts will normally initiate at 1500 and complete at 1250 RPM for light-moderate throttle at 20+ mph. The car will be in 8th gear at 41mph at about 1200-1300 RPM.

If the car was upshifting at 1100 and completing shifts into 500-600 RPM then you would have an engine lugging problem. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

You are more likely experiencing a driveline vibration. Check the drive shaft center bearing and CV joints for wear.

Also try a tank or three of 93 octane and toss in a couple bottles of Techron (polyetheramine) while you're at it.

transmission issue need a replacement :/
Before you replace the tranny and dish out alot of money. Try replacing the fluid and filter using ONLY the OEM kind. DO NOT take it to a Jiffy Lube or whatever. These transmissions are very delicate and using the incorrect type of fluid can cause issues
