Trickle Charger Question

Can I use the remote posts near the engine to attach a trickle charger? I'm about to leave on an 18 day vacation and don't want to come back to a dead battery (this happened to a friend with his 2010 BMW)

If you can jump from there (that's what the front posts are for), you can certainly trickle charge from there also.

The answer is yes. When I store my Genesis during winter the jumping posts is where I hook up my trickle charger to. Althought I don't see the need for a trickle charger for a few weeks sitting........

Yes I have charged the car from the posts under the hood. However, 18 days the car should be fine, the car has a huge AGM battery. If you have a smart charger that can turn itself off or go into storage mode like a Ctek or Deltran then it's a good idea, but don't feel the need to go out and get one just for this occasion.

That is exactly where I set up a trickle charge last winter. No issues.

No problem with sitting for 18 Days. I have left my car much longer with no problems.

I've let my Genesis sit for an entire winter with no charger on it, and it fired right up in the spring. Wouldn't do this with an old battery though

hmm, my battery has lost a charge in 7 days before.
but then again it also sat on a dealers lot for like 3 months prior to that.

A related question for you guys, would it matter if you locked the car or left it unlocked if you were to leave it for a period of time?
as i left mine unlocked for 7 days and now i wonder if i locked it it would have been different

Check for a missing rubber button under the hood on the driver's side. If missing, the security system's hood tamper circuit becomes engaged and will slowly drain the battery.

Happened to me (4 days at the airport). Dealer replaced for free under warranty.
