  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trim Level with console knob (similar I-drive)?

In general, Florida is not the state in which to buy an extended warranty or service plan. The insurance industry has brought about state legislation that makes them insurance plans, which cannot be bargained on. Florida dealers' hands are tied, as much as they may want to compete in the market.

It may not be bargainable, but I got what I thought was a very good deal on a genuine HPP 10yr/120k $0 deduc platinum plan on my CPO 2016 Ultimate w/35k I bought 3 weeks ago. It was $1800 from the Hyundai dealer I bought the car from. Can't believe I won't have at least that much in covered repairs over the next 6+ yrs/85k.

Congrats, that sounds like the deal, UltGuy! (y)

Are we allowed to exchange dealer names here? I'm surprised no database has yet been compiled here of the 'friendly' dealers that are giving better prices. After all, it makes no sense that yours was ~$1300 less (3075-1800) than what I was quoted for just +3k miles for the zero-deduct 10/120.

Don't see why not.... It was at Fitzgerald Hyundai in Clearwater, FL.

Now, how bizarre is that! The quote I received was from them as well. I wonder if they gave you some type of dealer credit/offset at the time of purchase...was yours a CPO?

They seem on top of it and so far have been the only one to call me back. Alex in finance called me after I left a message for Anthony the Svc Mgr. Now I'm really scratching my head.

Yes, it was a CPO.

Don't know of any credit/offset I got from them. They are one of those dealers that has non-negotiable pricing on their used cars (like Carmax). Only thing negotiable was the trade-in value.

Maybe buying the car from them vs just buying a plan alone comes into play. I was under the impression they just entered the car info into some computer and it spit out what HPP plan(s) Hyundai was offering on that particular car.

Yep, Fitz Auto Mall dealerships were one of the first to offer their No-Haggle Pricing structure. I had scouted a couple of theirs before purchasing mine from Napleton WPB; the color combo was what I was seeking and the price was a steal. Love the car but not the hassle with the HPP. You probably purchased one of the ones I was looking at as well.

I'm going to schedule a service at Crown Hyundai here in St Petersburg and hit them up for some quotes when I'm there. That should tell me if these prices are locked to the VIN numbers or not - my understanding was similar, in that they key in the VIN and it gives them the numbers. If so, it does beg the question of why such a disparity in cost exists - our vehicles seem virtually identical. Guessing maybe the price you paid was higher and some of that excess allowed them to make the HPP look cheaper than it truly was. I'm speculating, of course, but can't make heads or tails out of all this. 🧐

Wow. Seeing all these prices make me thrilled for the $1400 I paid last fall to take my CPO ‘15 Ultimate out to 10 years / 100k.

Replacing the AC compressor this week has already about paid for itself.

$1400? Where do I sign?

Not sure if the plus ~25k miles creates the rise in price, but would seem these things factor in. Seems counterintuitive to think since yours has only 38/58k (100/120) miles left to cover that possibly the warranty cost would drop, yet most likely they know the odds of something major happening may come sooner with the higher miles. It's got me scratching...
In GA this how things work, when I bought the 4.6 and the R-Spec extended warranty when they where new, I paid a fraction for what I paid for either 2015 and 2016, with around 20k miles on each (all four where through Jim Ellis).
One of the important items that I checked each time, is the electronic coverage, as well as, the refund policy regarding the reminder of the term, incase I sold either car, however, when the R-Spec was totaled, all I had to do is to provide the insurance letter to finance guy, and after few days, they kindly refunded me almost 6 years balance.

My experience with Ford's Premium ESP plans was that prices varied with deductible desired, and in mileage blocks: under 30k miles on the car at time of plan purchase was x$; 30k-60k miles cost y$; 60K-100k, z$. Not certain, but perhaps it wasn't even available for cars with over 100k miles on them.
If you didn't have a current plan, you had to pay $95 for an inspection, and pass it or repair whatever was not satisfactory. As of now, only the final year of TBird production, 2005, can renew a plan. Soon, not at all. Having this plan, good for two more years and transferable without inspection to a new owner for $75, made selling my 'Bird easier.
You had to find an out-of-state dealership willing to sell competitively. Word-of-mouth on the forums took care of that, and the sale was pure profit to a dealer who knew he'd never have to provide the service.

Anyone have experience or comments on CarChex or Concord Auto Protect Warranty? Trying to compare 3rd Party with the Hyundai VSC quotes.

I've seen posts out here that state to get ONLY the HPP warranty, just due to it being backed by Hyundai and rarely having to dispute major repair issues. I learned my lesson with my previous Audi when I purchased 3rd-party and the head blew; was not a fun experience battling with them for 45-60 days and threatening legal action before getting them to pay-out about 50% of the repair - just saying don't want to go down that road again.

That being said, and as I've stated in several other threads here so far, the dealer slipped me a 3rd-party a few weeks ago while passing it off as HPP. The name was The Mechanic Agreement (Platinum plan backed and offered by Assurant) which had surprisingly favorable reviews from what I found online, yet I still chose to cancel it and am in the middle of trying to land the HPP somewhere. The dealer had priced the 10/120 plan at $2258 to give you some reference.

We forumers out here definitely need to keep each other informed on these plans and options.

I agree! thanks for the heads up. I'm more confident of the HPP now even if it cost more.
