  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trunk Wings

Yes sounds like the dodgy dealer is not using genuine parts. He's using cheap internet generic stuff and charging a premium price.

Manufacturer Part Number:
86330 B1000

Is genuine 2015 OEM, and would not require any mods.

Example of correct one:

.

It was a genuine part. I did not get it from the dealer I bought it on Ebay and it is OEM. If does makes sense because if you look at an earlier post I did (before I got the trunk emblem) I did measurements where I thought the only place wide enough holes for the posts would be under the current H emblem would be under the H, not the ring around the H (which is the case). The posts on the OEM new part are much further apart than the H emblem where the holes, at their widest point, would not fit. Modifications could be necessary since the US version was not made for the wings on the trunk despite in prior generation where both may have fit.

To further demonstrate my point, here is the link to the item I purchased which if you look at the link that was provided by you and the measurement of the wings I received are the same.

Now, perhaps finally, we can put this question to rest. The posts have to be removed.

I’m having a little trouble with this wing badge thing. I purchased one with the exact part number you suggested and the posts are fairly far apart. About 4 ½ inches from post to post. I thought that to be unusually far but I figured the H must be fairly large. I guess I’ll find out next week for sure.

Yes and we are all waiting with baited breath to hear the results.

We have many many Korean sellers stating they are selling a genuine OEM 2015 Genesis Rear badge, Versus a local Hyundai dealer that says they are no good??

Many people would love a second opinion.. :)

Despite many posts on this subject, there is still confusion about where these wings come from. The rear trunk wings are not OEM parts for the USA version of the Genesis. They are OEM for the Korean version of the Genesis. That is why you have to get them from sellers on eBay or elsewhere who buy them from Hyundai dealers in Korea and import them. USA dealers get them from the same place as we do, since Hyundai Motor America only supplies OEM parts to dealers that come on Hyundai's sold in the USA.

Obviously, based on the post from acecert above, the holes in the Korean trunk are further apart than the holes in the USA version of the trunk, to fit the different emblems that come as OEM trunk emblem on each Genesis. For 2009-2014 Genesis, which did not come with a hood emblem in the USA, but did have one on the Korean version of Genesis, the USA hood had no holes, and the Korean hood has holes for the Korean hood emblem.

This is not rocket science folks. The part that acecert bought is not counterfeit or aftermarket, it is a genuine Hyundai part for the Korean version of the Genesis.

Do you really believe that the factory in Korea makes two identical boot lids, but goes to the expense and trouble of remachining/retooling everything to place two badge holes at different spacing just because it is going to the US market??

Like I said, personally I will await an independent second opinion (not from a dealer).

I'll let you guys know as soon as mine arrives. I plan to install it myself.

As far as the hole spacing it could very well be that the holes are drilled differently between the Korean Domestic models and those cars that are sent to North America.

Or perhaps we are seeing a difference between the emblem designed for the hood versus that for the trunk.

We will only know after a few more of us get the emblems and can compare the part numbers and the fitment.

Thank you. I couldn't believe that now I was reading that it's being suggested that after everyone was showing OEM part numbers almost 2 weeks ago that after what I witness and now have done that it's being questioned if it's OEM now. If there's a USA trunk version OEM...I don't know about it yet if it exists and if it does, I assure you it would be much smaller than the one I purchased due to the measurement of the width of the H (unless they want to make a large emblem with the posts close together in the center). Here was the original discussion I posted earlier regarding the measurements of the posts in relation to the H emblem (before I received my trunk wings) that will hopefully help others that may want to measure. I'm providing the link where I began talking about the measurements...so scroll down a bit. :-)

Excellent, thanks.

There's always the second view that ebayer sellers are telling fibs!! Wouldn't be the first time an ebayer has 'misled' us into believing something was a factory part, only to find out it wasnt!

There is no second view on this particular part, except maybe from someone who just recently became a member of this forum and has not read the previous 20,000 posts on this subject over the past 5.5 years . The manufacturing cost of a fake would exceed the price being charged on eBay for genuine Korean OEM parts imported into the USA.

There are some wings, such as those put on top of the steering wheel flying H emblem on 2009-2014 Genesis, that are aftermarket, since there is no Wing Part in Korea sold separately from the entire air bag assembly (which some members purchased).

If there's a USA trunk version OEM
There is no Hyundai OEM wing for the trunk that is for USA version of the Genesis Sedan for model years 2009-2014 or 2015. Period. The USA version of Genesis Sedan comes from the factory with a flying H on the trunk.

End of discussion, unless someone has read the previous 20,000 posts on this subject in this forum.

There sure is...
Any uninformed person who has not done the research and doesn't know what they are talking about can have a view, so I stand corrected. Thank you.

So the eBay seller's photo for the emblem that I ordered shows this photo:
$_57.JPG

At the top it states "MARK ASSY-TRUNK"

Is this the same one that you got Acecert?

I'd suggest you get off your high-horse Mr Keyboard warrior... until we get a second opinion on the 2015 scenario, NOBODY knows 100%.

We will know 100% when we get a second opinion/advice from a 2015 owner.

I couldn't give a flyingf**k about 20,000 previous posts dealing in history... I care about 2015 models.

Get a grip... and wait like everyone else until this has been CONFIRMED by a second 2015 owner.

  1. Yes, I have posted a lot, because some people are too lazy to do the research on previous posts and repeat the same questions over and over again. If you want to criticize me for trying provide accurate information and dispel false rumors and prevent hysteria, then OK I am guilty.
  2. What exactly is the conformation you are waiting for? acecert already posted that the 2015 wings he got from a Korea Parts importer had posts on them that did not match the USA trunk holes and he had to grind them off. We are familiar with that process, because those who installed Korean wings on their hood for 2009-2014 Genesis had to grind the post off also, since the USA version of the Genesis in 2009-2014 had no holes in the hood (had no H or wing emblem).

That is not a part number, just a description. There have been different wings depending on model years, or edition, that could have same description but different part numbers, and be different parts. Even if it is the same size, some wings were dark chrome, and some regular chrome.
