  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trunk Wings

Thank You for finally putting this issue to bed. Funny thing is it looks like the spacing on the Hood emblem would fit the trunk holes. :) The only issue is it's size and curvature.

The issue was always in bed however one persistant person would not agree and still won't because he will now claim those are fake wings not properly made.

I think if the pegs don't fit, buy another car that they will fit. Problem solved :)

Now your talking. Much cheaper than my idea :) But that might open up a whole new thread called "Will my KDM trunk for my new badges fit the hardware on my US 2015 model Genesis" :)

Absolutely perfect, this can now finally be put to bed as we now have proof for the Gen 2 - 2015 model that OEM badges do not fit, as per other previous models.

Thanks for taking the time to take the pics and post them here...

Case closed. ;)

On the Gen 1 models (2009-2014) the front (hood) KDM wing badge did not fit on USA or Canadian versions, and the pegs had to be ground off.

Any chance rain could drip behind the badge and into the holes? Should the holes be taped or filled prior to installing the new badge?

I think that the emblem's 3M adhesive backing will pretty much seal them off.

Besides the panel looks like it was painted after the holes were drilled so there is a layer of paint over the edges.

In any case having plastic emblem pegs in the holes wouldn't necessarily seal them from moisture either and that's the way they come from the factory.

Correct. I don't know about the 2015, but on 2009-2014 models the flying H pegs did not fit snugly in the holes, and no worries because of the 3M tape.

My dealer has the 2015 wings in stock now
Taking my car tomorrow to install
They don't have the pegs in the back ready to install :)

Generally, HMA (Hyundai Motor America) only imports parts that are OEM on the USA models, and dealers buy the parts from HMA. So, most likely, your dealer purchased them on Ebay or from other importer just like everyone else, and knocked the pegs off (or importer knocked them off). If that is not correct (if you can see upon close examination that the pegs were never there), please let us know.

You right mark they getting it from somebody with the pegs already cut
All dealer in my area have it

Got my car already re-badged by the dealer. The curious thing was that half of the gens on the lot were re-badged with wings and half were not. Not sure if there was a pattern to the madness, but mine came with the wings already installed - crossing this one off my list :)

There is nothing curious or unusual about that. Some people may want the H on the trunk, and dealer can always swap it out after the sale.

Can you see the place where the pegs were cut off, or does the tape cover the entire rear without any pegs? Another possibility is that dealers are using the front wing on the rear, which does fit the existing holes, but has a slight curve to it to fit the curve of the hood (but the curve may not be noticeable on the trunk).

Hello all.

I tried to scan through the post and find it but couldn't. I'm liking the wing emblems but with so many places saying OEM not really sure which ones. I just picked up a 2013 Genesis sedan and want this emblem to replace the H on the back. Would someone point me to the link as to order a fair priced one that's the same as this one and genuine I guess you could say.

Thank you all
