  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why do some Genesis sedans have the Hyundai "H" as their badge on the trunk, and some have a wing-like badge?

You can buy the Korean winged emblem, which is a direct replacement to the US market H badge. People replace the badge because it looks better, it was the original Genesis badge, or both.

I replaced mine for both reasons, actually. I ordered mine from Korean Auto Imports (I know, I paid too much, but I was getting a bunch of other stuff at the same time). They are not all that speedy, but I have found their stuff to be first rate. The badges they sell are OEM, not the phony stuff you see on eBay (not everything on eBay is phony, but some of it is).

You can get it at any Hyundai Dealer. That is where I got mine.

Part number 86330 3M000 (Mark Assy-Tail Gate). Don't remember the price, but it was reasonable.

The front badge is one digit different, but I can't remember what it is.

Instructions for installing the rear badge is somewhere in this BB. Very easy. Twenty minute job.

Do not try to install the front badge on the rear (or vice-versa) as the curve of the badge is different, or so I've been told.

Fwiw, I bought genuine Mobis Hyundai badges off eBay from a certain vendor... I posted it in the appearance section. $86 for the trunk badge, 18" V6 wheel hubs, and a steering wheel badge. It was the best price at the time I was looking for someone that didn't want a hood badge.

There was a period of time where we dealers could not order these badges from our normal Hyundai/Mobis suppliers. (I've heard a number of stories why) They are available for us to order now though.

We can now order the rear badge directly from Hyundai. The wheel caps are not available yet though. The flat V6 caps exist in with a Mobis part number but are not stocked in the US.

Wheel caps for the V8 do not exist so I modify the original H wheel cap with the smaller center cap for the 17" wheels.

I purchased my Genesis in January 2009. I returned to the dealer about 2 months later to visit the parts department, and many of the dealer employees were asking about my rear wing (they had never heard of it or seen one before).

Last time I went to my dealer a few weeks ago, about 3/4 of their Genesis sedan new car inventory had already had the rear H badge replaced with the wings by the dealer.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I got both front & rear badges on e-bay $29 for both includes shipping. It took 3 days to get here. They arrived in KIA / HYUNDAI factory sealed bags sith Korean writing on it.
I also found the badge for the steering wheel for $12 ...(yes I've seen the entire airbag replacement with the factory Genesis wings on it and it looks fantastic), however I'm not gonna' buy that for this leased vehicle. I refrained from putting the front bange on the hood, as the car looks so elegant without it. Titanium Gray. I can always put it on if I change my mind.... and remove it for that matter. For those considering replacing the rear 'H', heat it up with a hair dryer then get some fishing line and 'lightly saw back and forth' behind the emblem, being aware that there are 2 small round posts that go into holes in the trunk lid, then pry behind the emblem gently with a credit card that you don't mind getting bent. Work your way around the circumfrence of the "H" and it will come off in one piece.... I will want to surrender mine when lease is up... just in case. The glue residue rubs off with minimal effort, follow up with 'Goo-Gone' or similar adheasive label remover. Wash and dry area & wipe with alcohol to remove any wax and your new 'Wings' will adhere firmly. (They come with 3M brand foam tape attached, just peel of the covering and stick-it-to-it. It was really kind a' fun!

If you can prove that you are manly and well endowed to the dealer you are authorize to get a car with the wings on it. "H" in Korean means gay (not so manly).

So I know their are Tabs that break off I guess when you pry it off the trunk. Where do those pieces go or do they just float around in the trunklid?
