  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been trying to fix this for ages and no go, so I'm asking you guys again. I use an iPhone 5 and it, of course, connects to Genesis via Bluetooth as soon as I get in car. Problem is whenever I press the microphone button to TALK a text reply or a Google Search ON MY PHONE it defaults to Siri on the Nav in the car.

Yes, I've read NAV owner's manual and here's what it says,

"Ending Siri
• While voice recognition is operating, press
and hold “ ” on the steering wheel remote
control or say “Exit”."

I press exit and I'm supposedly out of Siri on the Nav, BUT as soon as I again press the microphone to talk a text or Google Search ON PHONE it starts Siri up in car again.

I want option to use the microphone/talk feature ON MY PHONE and NOT have that push automatically default to Siri in car.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

A SECOND QUESTION: Frankly, I don't use Siri in the car and I'm not sure how to. Both because I can't figure it out, because we're not given a real manual on how to use it, and the SINGLE PAGE in the manual is so poorly translated as to be useless, e.g. See Attachment

Just push the button & release it. Don't hold it down. If that doesn't work, take it to the dealer as you have an issue.

Thanks Alwaysforward, but if by "button" you mean the Exit Siri button that appears on the face of the NAV, been there done that, precisely my point. Do that, goes away, press microphone on iPhone, Siri shows up again on screen.

Can Alwaysforward or someone out there WHO HAS AN IPHONE 5 tell me, when they push the microphone button to search Google by voice or write a text for example ON THEIR IPHONE, when in the car, does Siri in the Nav take over and, if so can THEY get out of it and how?

I was talking about the button on the steering wheel. If you have Siri and hold it down it will come on. If you just press it (and quickly release it) it is the normal voice system. I don't have Siri on my phone (4S) so I can't answer your other question.

Thanks dude, but yeah: doesn't change my problem at all. So still: pretty pretty pretty please: someone who has an iPhone - maybe same problem with Android? - throw the girl a bone and HELP!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The only way i know how to do it is manually, switch your speaker setting on your iPhone.

After connecting, push up from the bottom to get your options screen.

See where it says airdrop on mine (sorry not connected to bluetooth so i can't show you the actual screen), it will show the name (if default, genesis will be displayed).

Select that option and change it to iPhone, now it will go through your iPhone and not the car... downside, so will incoming calls but you will be prompted by the genesis to change it back to hands free..

Or you could from the same screen turn off bluetooth (or use the Hey Siri option and say "Turn bluetooth off" or "Turn bluetooth on" until you had an incoming call or wanted make a call?

Just hold down the voice button for 2 seconds and it will prompt you for a voice command with a chime - you can ask it to read texts/emails and it will ask if you want to reply - basically anything you can do with Siri on your phone, it will do. If it can't do what you want because you are driving (so anything it needs to show you info/web links for - stuff it can't answer directly), it will tell you that. It works really well most of the time.

Sugrat and Nikgen: thank you!

I'll check out both suggestions and see if they help. iPhone 411 may not be helpful as I have chosen to keep iPhone 5 and keep ios down at 6 and that means that screenshot don't look nothin' like mine! But I'll play with your ideas and we'll see where we can get. Again: thanks!
