  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've recently picked up my new 2020 G90 5.0. Lovin' it!!! Ive added a pic (below). She's all white, which I wasn't going to buy, but the dealer gave me a killer deal to take it off his hands (and my wife really dug the white). Anyway, I find it a bit boring. I've seen a few other luxury sedans doing two-tone schemes - and look fanatastic, in my opinion. Anyone here ever trying to wrap half a Genesis? (not sure if I would do the top half or the bottom half, so any examples or pics would be cool. PS: I did see those Academy Awards special additions. Of course, those were not wrapped, but factory-painted.
PS: The white is growing on me, mind you. I plan to sit with it a while before doing anything.

Not terribly useful. Why not?
It's a beautiful car as it is. I'm not a fan of two tone, especially on something like the G90. But then again, it's your car, so do what you feel looks the best to you.

Maybe if I saw one that looks nice, I might change my mind. What colors were you thinking?

I've not had white for years so would just go with it as is. Many years ago I had a series of white used cars and wife got tired of them.
That said, dark on top, light on bottom does not look right to me.

Maybe do only the roof in black? A less is more kind of thing. I've seen some cars and SUV's done this way but usually they are smaller more sporty vehicles.

Yeah, I am just at the exploration phase. Trying to see some examples and get some ideas.

I just purchased a G70 Casablanca white and the looks I get on this car and color are plentiful. I would not touch this color but I would research using Xpel on the car

Well, we all have our own tastes - glad you love your G70. I plan sit with the car for a bit and see if it grows on me. I dont dis-like it, I just seem to think the G90 looks better in almost every other color it is offered in. Guess I just dont appreciate white.

I expect I'll wrap it, some two-tone style. A wrap is totally reversible, preserves the factory paint (excellent for re-sale value) and is cheap. I'll show the forum when, and if, I take the plunge. Thanks...

Any if anyone has seen other pics, please share!

Why not be a little creative? Two tone is just so bland when you can add some character to the car. Make a statement. Be bold! Show the world who you are!

It's dawning on me that folks here are not keen on two-tone paint jobs. (note the sarcasm, please).

That said, I have my tastes. An anonymous forum isnt likely to sway them. But you are welcome to have fun. I do appreciate the few members who posted links or useful comments about wrapping or two-tone paint schemes. Thanks for that.

Seems like the fashion changes over time. Many cars in the 20's had two tone but in the 40's one color then back two two tone in the 50's. For a couple of years (about 1956) you could get a Dodge with three colors. Been back to one color for a while and I imagine cost is a big factor.

It may be a good start to take a side photo of the car and if you have the talent with software, do some mock ups with different colors and different areas,

Yessir, I thought of doing exactly that! I'm no Photoshop prodigy, but I can wrangle it just enough to experiment. We'll see.

Well, I tried it in Lightroom. Not very happy how two-tone looks on the G90 body-shape. Fun experiment, though.

I don't know if it is practical to do, but have you thought of just a darker shade around the lower quarter or third? Like a gray or silver, not a heavy contrast. With paint it can be faded but probably expensive to get a really good job.

Pin stripe used to be popular too, done right ads a nice contrast.

Yeah, I thought of grey or a soft brown or blue. Tried them all, but the shape made it look strange. I dunno.., I'll keep my eyes open for some interesting ideas.
