  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

ULTIMATE Hyundai Genesis Detailing Thread

I had a major problem with stubborn water spots. The best way to deal with them is to not let them happen. This means doing what you have to in order to avoid sprinklers, and when you wash or rinse the car, use a filter on the hose and immediately blow the car fully dry. The spots will be history.

Wiping them off each time takes forever, creates more spiderwebs or holograms, and just makes you blame the black car for all the work. Honestly, I don't spend any more effort (out of necessity, anyway) on the black car than on another non-black car subjected to the same elements. The trick is to stop washing and hand-waxing so much, essentially. Since my post above, that is since my first full DA correction (see Meguiar's), I've STILL only washed the car outright about 4 or 5 times (Feb-July), and how I keep it clean and waxed is by using using Meguiar's Gold Class Quik Detailer & Quik Wax. It still looks like this: :D

Just trying to assist you energetic detailers here. Yes, shammy is spelled chamois. I take my car to the three dollar car wash where it is air dried.

That's sad. :(

Hello, this is the second time the dreadful sprinklers left its mark on my impeccable black Genny, which seems to appear from discrete locations each time. Getting those water spots off is terribly labor intensive. However, I am thinking about taking the machine to a detail. Members, can you recommend a Pennsylvania/Philadelphia detail? I believe my efforts/products are not getting the job done. I have yet to clay bar the machine due to fear of unforeseeable.
Thanks.

Hey guys,
Lets make a detailing thread covering everything in a centralized location.

Pre Wash

Wash

Drying

Pre Wax

Wax

Tire & Wheel Care

Glass Finish

Interior Detailing

Leather Care

For each section we can suggest techniques and equipment and I'll keep the thread updated.
As I am not a detailing expert I really don't do much but wet the car, wash the car and dry the car. However I want to start taking care of my Black Genesis Sedan that I just purchased and would like to start applying wax and doing detail work before its too late.

So please, feel free to suggest techniques, ask questions, and so on.
Provide details such as what towels you use for drying, detailing before wax, wax application, etc. Best soaps, best wax, best wax applicators, etc.

You get the idea.
Hello.
At the begining of the year I started detailling my own car and since then have been detailling for friends and family.
I'm not going to boast that I'm better than any of the detailling members already present on the forum but I certainly do not do a bad job.
I've done a complete paint correction for a 2008 Honda Fit and 2010 Acura TSX as well as my own 2011 Genesis Coupe.
And since then I have maintained the cars with occasional wash & wax.

Having said that I'd like to over my services to you guys who might be interested in a little bit of protection for the winter.

I'm planning to offer the following:

Wheels:
Wheel & Tire & Inner Fender Liner Scrub using Autogylm Custom Wheel Cleaner
Wheel Wax using Optimum Car Wax
Tire Dressing using Poorboys Bold n Bright

Exterior
Exterior Car Wash using Optimum Car Wash (2 Bucket Method)
Clay Bar using Riccardo Clay Bar
Blow Dry Car and Trim
Paint Sealant using Menzerna Power Lock
Wax using Optimum Car Wax

Job should take somewhere from 3-4 hours.
I can come to you granted you can supply water and power
or you can come to me.
I am located near Pacific Mall
I usually do this on weekends as I work full time.
Please PM me if anyone is interested.

Thanks for looking!
