  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone ever upgraded their rear view camera to a better model? The view sucks when backing up at night and just wondering if there were any upgrade options available.

Any thoughts?

I have not seen anyone post about it. But, the best camera I have seen is the factory camera on a Honda Odyssey.

My Genesis is the first car I've had or used with a back up camera. I think it works very well at night! I didn't know that the image could be much better.

The image is definitely grainy in low light, but that's expected. I don't find that it interferes with my ability to see obstacles.

My back-up camera on my 2012 Premium is horrible compared to the one I had on my 11 Sonata Hybrid. The hybrid looked hi-def with good colour compared to the Genesis which I would compare to 1960's almost B&W TV. I don't know if mine is working as it should until I compare to some others, but definitely way behind the 11 Sonata.

Before upgrading the reverse camera, I would suggest upgrading both the reverse and number plates lights to a brighter LED first...

In my experience those mods are much more economical, easier to implement and yield surprisingly excellent results, some examples can be found here:

Just my two cents...

Have you cleaned the lens and or shown it to the dealer? My 2012 B/U camera still surprises with its color and clarity.

upgrade your reverse bulbs to led's and the clarity at night is GREATLY improved

Yes, I took it to the dealer and they are replacing the head unit. I'm surprised as the head unit, nav etc works flawlessly. I expected the issue to be the camera not the unit. Hopefully that will take care of the issue.
