  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For those of us with the US only market 18" wheels with the fluted wheel caps, you know that the Korean "Winged" caps don't fit the unusual shape of our rims.
I was bummed because those caps are the last exterior placements I have left of the "Flying H".

Well, today I applied a winged steering wheel badge I had ordered and noticed that the size was similar to the "H" on the wheel caps. I fetched the adhesive backing for the badge out of the trash (eww) and held it up to the wheel cap. Wadda you know. Almost a perfect fit!

So in theory you could order four steering wheel badges and stick them to your wheel caps. I'm not sure how well they would hold up to weather or being spun at several hundred RPM's, but it might be worth a shot. Four of these are still cheaper then new OEM wheel caps.

Thoughts?

Looks like it might work. I'll be very interested in someone trying it to see how long they stick-ons hold up. :)

Nullunit2000,
I had the same idea but thought I would go the superglue route. I am also interested in hearing how these hold up to road elements, car washes, etc..
Thanks for posting a creative idea!

Superglue will not hold up, water slowly breaks it down. 3M makes an adhesive promoter #94 just for the 3m tape, use this first on the center cap, then stick the badge on and press on. I use this all the time when installing body kits using 3M tape for the installation and have yet to lose any parts. Just my 2 cents

Damn.
I guess I just pulled the dumbell of the year award! I ordered a rear badge, steering wheel badge and the 18" wheel replacements. Well, it wasn't until I opened the bag that I realized I had ordered the "flat" 18" wheel covers (not the ones that go with the US 4.6 version)
Now I'm gonna have to send them back. I sure hope somebody comes up with a non $249 aftermarket item.

The good news? The steering wheel badge and rear badge went on beautifully! Well as Karl (Bill Murray) said in Caddyshack "So I got that going for me...which is nice"
