  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

US dealers who actually have the G70 available for sale.

Test drove a 3.3 at Jim Ellis Genesis in ATL today. Heard one guy say they got the most out of any in the country.

And? Gotta give us something...LOL

Have you driven other brands?

Thoughts?

How was the test drive?
Awesome. Drove a 3.3 for about 25 minutes. Smooth acceleration, comfortable seats, lots of power.

But then he handed me this (see attached) and I laughed in his face.

Coming from a Genesis Coupe it felt like a true luxury car. The torque felt like a roller coaster, but it was very smooth and comfortable cruising around. Seats were very comfortable, lane keep assist was on point, the paddle shifters felt responsive and more sturdy than my Genesis Coupe. I loved it overall, besides the infotainment which is the same as any other Hyundai.

I plan to get one, but definitely will wait until I can walk out the door with one closer to the low-mid 40s.

You mean the extra ~$1,200 in dealer crap? Or something else I’m missing?

Pita with that stuff.

MSRP is $51k...you want $5k discount ?!

Um...nice try...that’s ridiculous.

The trade in offer when they were selling a similar car for over 2x the price in the lot, added crap, and overall out the door price. I don't know why I was expecting that they may discount it some since it's brand new, but no thanks to a $1000/payment for 60 months.

Something seems off...that’s not right.

Took delivery of a 3.3 Prestige G70 from Jim Ellis on 10/8/2018. They had 14 in stock at that time. Ours was apparently the 1st G70 actually delivered in the USA. This is our 4th Genesis: a 4.6, an Equus, a G90 and now a G70. Yes, we actually traded a G90 for a G70 and are VERY pleased. We loved the G90 - it’s an exceptional world-class luxury car, but we came to realize it was really too big and extravagant for us. We wanted something much smaller with excellent performance and handling but lots of tech and luxury. The 3.3 Prestige model G70 fits our needs almost perfectly.

What trim Genesis Coupe do you have? That number seems right for a base model 2.0 according to Edmunds.

Thank you for the review. I did not see an attachment.

Material quality, fit and finish and overall build quality are about the same as the G90 - really excellent. Performance is great. The fact that max torque comes in at 1300 RPM makes it very lively and responsive. Handling is superb with very nice steering feel. It also rides surprisingly well and is fairly quiet.

Do you notice any turbo lag on it? If so, how bad and when?

Heck...I can reply to that one. None. Well perhaps a smidgen. No where near the competition. Linear...just “go” all the way...even at low RPM. Feels amazing.

I’ll add onto my statement.

The Audi S4/S5 has a single turbo. The biturbo in the G70 is so different.

I think the G70 scrolls until the 2nd turbo kicks in.

The Audi has minimal lag...great mechanics. The G70 has none. Single off the start allowing the 2nd to spool in. Strong as f$%k.

As a result...the G70 is more tunable than the Audi.

I was going to ask you next but figured you were sort of in mourning given the Leafs got blanked tonight.

That is good to hear and I assume then it will be the same way on the G80 Sport. I think they are the same exact engines and setup.
