USB port is a great feature

I have a 2009 Genesis with the USB port in the arm rest. I just inherited my son's Ipod shuffle and it will not work thru the USB connection, but will wiht the AUX connection. Anyone have any thoughts on why this happens? Thank you.

Audio files on the iPod Shuffle are typically stored using Apple's AAC format, with or without DRM (digital rights management). The aux input will only play MP3 files.
