  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up a 2011 3.8 with 35k miles on it. My question is what type of warranty am i allowed to inherit? If so, what do i need to do? Do i register with someone, or online? And if there are recalls, how would I find out?
Inputs to steer me to the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

Btw, i love the car...thus far. New tires needed, will have a set of Cooper Zeon rs3a installed this Friday. Great deal at pepboys..($108 instant discount) with road hazard warranty package, new valve stems, tpms kit, free flat repair, free rotation for life. All of this comes to $650 OTD. And here is the kicker, there is a rebate from pepboys for the price of 1 tire...this will be around $150 kickback to me...overall, new set of coopers for $500 installed...that's a deal. Expires 1/5/2014.

  • Audio/Video/GPS electronic entertainment systems have a 3 year - 36K mile warranty
  • The rest of the car has a 5 year - 60K mile warranty (except for wear items like tires, battery, paint, adjustments, alignments, etc which are only warrantied for one year)
  • If you were the original owner, or purchased a CPO car from a dealer, you would have the 10 year - 100K drivetrain warranty that covers engine and transmission.
  • Also, there are various emissions warranties that may apply.
These warranties are documented on the Hyundai website, and are pretty much the same for all Hyundai vehicles sold in the US. Hyundai warranties for other countries are different.

No registration of the of the car is necessary for the warranty (the dealer will use the VIN to track the date that the car was originally purchased), but it is a good idea to register with HMA (Hyundai Motor America) so you will get notified in the mail of any recalls. etc. Check your owner's manual on instructions on how to contact HMA. But any dealer can track recalls for you using your VIN.

Congrats! I'm guessing your audio/Nav warranty has already expired due to the age of the car. If not, get a focus on the operation of those items immediately before that part of your warranty evaporates.

Great price on the tires. I know nothing about them. Just hope you haven't gone too cheap.

Hi All, I picked up a used 2011 4.6L Genesis, with 33,800 miles, last week. It is a Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle but I want to cover my back with an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty.
I am looking to buy a Hyundai Protection Plan (HPP, extended warranty, sold and backed by Hyundai)... I am looking for a 6-7yr/100k miles 0-$100 deductible plan...
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

You can buy one from any dealer. Some dealers sell them online or by phone. Try calling Hilton Head (SC) Hyundai parts department for a price quote.

Any owners of a pre-owned Hyundai (or original owners who have changed address), can register a vehicle at this address in order to receive recall notices, etc.
