  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Using Genesis BlueLink Driving Metrics to get out of speeding ticket?

Amartz, that *is* interesting. What model of radar detector do you have? My parents used to live in Spotsylvania and when I would go visit them I always unplugged my V1 and put it in the glove compartment. I didn't want any chance of them giving me a hard time. Incidentally, I-81 is a horrid, horrid highway.

Thanks for all the comments.

OneFunGenesis, if you could do the math, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I was hoping that perhaps these metrics were accessible online or stored for analysis somewhere so I could get more detailed evidence. I will attempt to call BlueLink later to see if there are any metrics available.

I'd like to avoid court all together as it's in Joshua Tree, which is over 2 hours away.

I've decided I'm going to request postponing my trial dates as many times as I can, then submit a trial by declaration. I will also use my employer's group legal plan to see if I can get legal assistance.

Moving forward, I think I will install a dashcam. Any recommendations for dashcams that provide additional data to prevent these kind of claims? Perhaps one collects GPS data as well?

So I did the preliminary math on this and it only proves that you were going between 60 and 80 for a range of time (about 7 mins) which is well more than enough time to get up to 79mph. Bluelink or Map-n-Soft will be your saviors here

I called BlueLink yesterday and they were of little help. It might be a good thing they don't collect these metrics as it would probably be a privacy concern.

I still need to contact my employer's legal group assistance and see their recommendation. Perhaps I can just make delaying motions and finally a sincere declaration and get the citation dismissed.

I'm sure map-n-soft should be able to tell you how fast you were going at any particular second since your car is being GPS traced lol. Might want to ask them too?

Funny - I grew up in Spotsylvania. Where were they? I have also gotten a ticket for a radar detector even when it was uplugged. You can have one so long as (a) it is not plugged in and (b) it is not accessible. Best to unplug and put it in the trunk.
Agreed that VA is really a police state.

only certain high end detectors are immune to the detector DETECTOR..even my 9500ix can be picked up (got it while I lived in NJ which has it's own set of issues vs VA). the V1 can't be detected, also the escort Redline can't be either

sucks about the bluelink info,I would think there would be a way for us owners to get the info as we know the car stores it

Honestly man I don't remember; they lived there for about a year and that was back in 2007. The houses in the subdivision they lived in were kind of oversized though (>5000 sq feet, which seemed a bit oversized for empty-nesters). Beautiful, historic, countryside, though full of ticks!! (ask me how I know).

https://dashcamtalk.com/ is another one. I like the summaries. Both seem to conclude the G1W is a great entry model, but stepping up to a model with GPS is probably a good idea for the purpose at hand.

Have no preference between the two sites, yours is new to me - thanks for the link!
