  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

V6 vs V8?

There was a post on here some time ago that reported that one of the auto magazines had tested a V8 Genesis against a V6 and they ran identical 0-60 and quarter mile times. The V6 actually feels faster around town than the V8 although I'm sure the V8 would have slightly faster passing times on the highway.

Because it has more aggressive gearing and weighs about 200 lbs less, a V6 will accelerate as fast as a V8 Genesis sedan from a stop. Where the V8 will shine is at speed where pure power is needed to punch through the air, which starts to manifest itself from 80 mph up. As air resistance builds, more brute force is needed and the V6 has less mechanical advantage from the taller gears.
