  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My V8 tech is not even a week old with 400 miles and the driver seat bottom is all stretched. I'm not a large guy by any mean :p, 5'8" 165lbs in shape. I love how much softer and better the "ultra premium leather" feels but does it come with a sacrifice in durability?

I have had mine for 5 months and 5k. I am of similar size/build. My seats are fine - no stretch.

If you could, take a picture of what you're talking about. I think this would help a ton.

Thanks:)

I am about the same height and weight as you. My Gen V8/tech is 7 months old and my driver's side leather seat is fine.

You should not be having a problem with the seat cover,it's possible the cover is just not pulled tight take it to your dealer and let them look at it.

My 4.6 is stretching like crazy...I've had the car for 6 weeks now and am really worried if it's normal or not.

Does anyone's V8 do the same thing?
I was told it is normal for leather to stretch...especially premium leather.

I will post pictures soon.

It is true that all leathers stretch. Thickness rather than "quality" is the most determining factor for leather's propensity to stretch. For example, the finest shoe leather stretches and molds to the shape of a foot much better and faster than "cheap" leather. Fine leathers do have a tendency to crease and roll more readily, but, they also tend to retain the shape once molded to the user for a longer period of time. The leather on the 4.6 seems to be very high quality so I am guessing that there is probably just a fitment issue with the cover on the seat itself.

ImInPA,

thanks for your response...I really would like to know from other V8 owners if this is the case with your vehicle.

Here are some pictures of my "6 week" old V8 Genesis
BTW I am 5'9" 175lbs in great physical shape

I look forward to some replies.

I have a couple of stretch marks on the back part of the drivers seat, but nothing abnormal IMO.

I do not have any on the sides however, but do have a few on the drivers seat bottom on the drivers door side. Nothing bad, but I've noticed I guess.

OMG, I have never seen anything that horrendous in my entire life. Your car is definitely totaled.

LOL. I know right?

Seriously, that looks completely normal to me. I've owned many different makes of cars. Everytime someone buys a new luxury car, be it a Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, etc. certain owners freak out over a tiny bit of sagging and/or wrinkling of the leather. Don't believe me? Do a quick search at any of the following: www.acurazine.com, www.clublexus.com or www.freshalloy.com.

Generally speaking, when it comes to leather......cracking/peeling = not normal. Wrinkles/sagging = normal.

It's completely normal. I attached a picture of mine for comparison. The seats in my former Lexus did the same thing...it shouldn't get any looser.

I'm 6'5" @ 330#. My seat looks just like ayasin's after ~3 months or so. Looks normal to me unless it continues at the same rate over time.

When I picked up my car back in December I noticed that the seat seemed to have some stretching in it. The dealership said that they have all been coming like that. After looking at two more new 4.6's seats (looked like mine),I think that maybe they are adding the "gathered" look to make the seat seem more plush. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks all for responding...it's nice to know it's normal.
I'm especially thankful to the other posters who put pictures too so I can see for myself. Thanks

Wow...you have a friend that sat in your passenger seat all weekend? I hope you let him watch movies and listen to that fantastic Lexicon system. Also, I hope you left the windows cracked for him :)
