V8 oil filter confusion

Went to get an oil filter for V8 Genesis for my second oil change. The part number and pieces are different from the first time I did this.
Part number 26320-3C30A
Filter Mahle: 26330-3C300

The parts clerk said the filter part number has changed, can anyone confirm this?

OK, checked the filter I carry with me.

1. The box says 26320-3F100 (probably updated with your part number)
2. The filter says 26330-3C300 (printed in very light yellow, also Mahle)

Reason I carry a filter with me is just in case I have to get the oil changed somewhere not a Hyundai Dealer (or even a very low volume dealer) I have the correct filter with me.

In addition, the box (26320-3F100) says "Made in Korea".
The filter itself ((26330-3C300) says "Made in Austria" (very hard to read yellow print on white filter)

Not that it matters, but V6 and V8 use same filter.

I called another dealer. He confirmed the part number for the
2009 Genesis Sedan V8: 26320-3F100
I told him that another dealer gave me Part number 26320-3C30A. He said it's the same thing, just different part number for different years. The part number on the paper filter element is in fact Mahle: 26330-3C300.
The confusion was also with all these gaskets. Originally the V8 I changed about 6 months ago had 2 gaskets. 1 for the oil filter housing and another for the oil filter housing drain plug. There seems to be 2 extra gaskets, and I get the sneaking suspicion that they are using the same filter for both v8 and v6. I was told the metal gasket is for the oil pan drain plug, but if you remove the plug on the V8, there is no gasket.

The engine oil filter has been superseded from part number 26300-35500 to part number 26300-35501. This oil filter is currently used on all Hyundai models.

The change is cosmetic, to include the words Kia Motors, the Kia logo and the new part number. Form, fit and function have not been affected.

To insure proper filtration of the lubrication system, only Hyundai Genuine Parts should be installed by a Hyundai approved facility. Damage resulting from parts other than Hyundai Genuine Parts may not be covered under warranty.

Looks to be the only change is that they put KIA Motors and its logo on the filter.

I change it myself in the garage. Cheaper and I know it is being done correctly. The biggest error would be to overfill, second is probably improper weight. To fully drain the oil, it takes nearly an hour, and most places wont let the car sit on a lift for that long.

I also change my own oil and I bought several filters from a dealership online. I think they were 5 or 6 dollars each. I keep myself stocked up so I don't have to go out and buy this stuff when I need it. They other reason is to make sure it is done right. It really is easy to do, you just have to have the right tools.

Changed my oil yesterday. Second change - 7400 miles. First one was a dealer comp. Took about 30 minutes. I let the oil drain for about 25 minutes. 27MM socket/ratchet, 10mm socket/2" socket extension/ratchet, phillips screwdriver and a size 6 hex/allen wrench are all that is required as far as tools. I used the 'signature series' Amsoil and a standard Hyundai MANN oil filter. DO NOT TRY using a adjustable on the 27mm oil filter cover-odds are you'll strip the plastic as it is on there nice and tight. I used a 1" socket with 18" ratchet and still had to apply a little pressure. I have a lift in my garage and so access to everything is easy. Getting the shroud off may take some time if you are on a creeper but still easy to do.

This refers to the older "spin-on" type filters that several of Hyundai's other models use...does not apply to any vehicle using cartridge filters.

The oil pan drain plug should have an aluminum crush washer installed. The original ones on the cars from the factory have a coat of black paint around their edge and can easily be mistaken for part of the bolt head.

I didn't see it on the first oil change that I did myself. I will check again on the next one. That still only accounts for 3 gaskets on the V8, what is the 4th one for, or is it for the 3.8?

The filter was located in a canister at the top center of the engine at the rear. The plastic cover over the engine was removed by pulling up at the rear. The plastic cover is held in place with metal ball studs on the engine and rubber sockets housed in projections from beneath the plastic cover. There was an aluminum crush washer on the drain plug. The filter kit from the Hyundai dealer had 2 replacement o-rings and a replacement crush washer and the filter element.
Does anyone know which Kia models this filter fits; or, whether an aftermarket filter is available. My filter kit cost about $10 from the dealer compared to $2.84 for most oil filters at Wal-Mart.

Just curious, how much oil did you put in and what is your oil level 5 minutes after running engine?

I used one 5 quart container of Quaker State 5W-20 and about a pint from another which put the oil level at the full mark on the dip stick. I ran the engine after 4 qts. were added; however, I did not run it for 5 minutes. I will check the oil level when I get home from my next trip to determine how hot oil affects the level.

This is a follow up to my post on 1-24-10 regarding oil change with the 3.8 V6 engine. I checked the oil level today with the engine hot and observed the level to be 1/16 inch above the full dot on the oil stick. This, by the way, is compared to about 3/16 inch above the full dot with a hot engine as I received the car new. I had installed the fresh oil to the full dot with an ambient oil temperature. Also, I have researched oil filters for the 3.8 V6 engine and have learned that Wix #27250 is an aftermarket filter that is made in Korea and is appropriate for the engine. Wix states that the filter "meets or exceeds the manufacturers requirements". The wix filter is available from FMS Filters (Froedge Machine and Supply Co.) in Gastonia, NC, phone# 1 888 868-5891, for $4.11 each. They also have a website.

This has been fun trying to find the right filter # for the 4.6. Parts guy gave me 26320 3C100. Found this thread and knew it was wrong. Saw 2 numbers here 26320 3F100 and 26320-3C30A. Call the parts guy back and had him double check which filter I needed. Just called back and said 26320 3C30A.

Found this chart on line and it looks like 26320 3C30A is the correct one for the 4.6. Hopefully this is correct.

For my sanity....how many o-rings/crush washer is needed during the oil change?

Yeah it's confusing:
2009 Genesis Sedan V8: 26320-3F100 (includes 2-O rings, 1 for the filter housing element and the other for the small hex key drain valve)
New Part Number: 26320-3C30A for both the V6 and V8(includes the above parts, but 2 more, 1 metal crush gasket for the drain plug and another O-ring that is V6 specific).

Since you have the V8. You only really need the large O ring and the small one for the drain valve (I didn't even bother changing the drain valve one). My 2009 V8 didn't have the crush washer, so I didn't put one on. So really, I just used 1 gasket around the filter housing, and didn't use the other 3. If you're being anal, you could install the drain plug gasket and change the filter drain valve rubber ring. But it's not 100% necessary.
